Inspired by Loreena’s fascination with the Celts in the broader Mediterranean region, this special Limited Edition package consists of two CDs in a richly designed slip case.
The first CD, From Istanbul to Athens, consists of ten new live recordings made during Loreena’s 2009 Mediterranean Tour, including songs that have never before been recorded in concert. It will also include a twenty-four-page, lavishly illustrated booklet featuring on-location photographs captured during the 2009 Tour.
The second CD, The Olive and the Cedar, has a Mediterranean theme curated by Loreena herself. It contains previously released studio recordings created between the years of 1994 and 2006.
Exact release dates for the various territories will be announced shortly. Be sure to check back to the QR web site or join the QR Community to be informed of the release schedule and pre-order opportunities.
Bhe dio per me l'anno nuovo comincia il primo novembre,ma visto che il ciclo ufficiale è gennaio auguri... speriamo in un anno celtico! I hope that this 2010 is very celtic!ciao freesoul! Betty
da noi si sa che ci voglion sempre 100 anni prima che arrivi qualcosa..... ! comunqe il live è bello e le copertine dei cd son splendide ...!Very nice cover...! betty
I ordered the limited edition and finally arrives! The design is excellent and beautiful
The olive and the cedar is just great! New edits for each song (except tango to evora, the mystic's dream, sacred shabbat and the mummers' dance)
And from Istanbul to Athens...OMG! Just beautiful concert, my favorite is Caravanserai and Beneath A Phrygian Sky...A few months ago I was wondered how would sound Beneath a phrygian sky in live..and, is just amazing!
I love the picture where Loreena is buying in a market in Lebanon. The booklet is beautiful.. QR, could you make a DVD like A Moveable Musical Feast but about the Mediterranean Tour? Loreena thanks for this gift!
I ordered my Mediterranean Odyssey copy on Oct 19th from Amazon.com along with one other item (so as to get 'free shipping') and it arrived TODAY! They only mailed it the 22nd--I had no idea it was in my mailbox until I checked the Amazon site 1/2 hour ago under 'My Orders' box--surprise!
Istanbul to Athens it playing just now--it is so beautiful! It's wonderful to hear these slightly different 'versions' of the songs--and happily one of my VERY favs ever is on here--Full Circle! I can hardly wait to get to that one!
This set is a real godsend for those of us who had no way to get to one of the Mediterranean concerts. The other CD, The Olive and the Cedar, is a totally 'different' lineup of studio songs specially chosen, and the little booklet is truly gorgeous! Wish some bigger photos or posters might become available of a few of them...
Loreena, thank you so much for these 'goodies'! Even though I have all the songs on your other discs, it's wonderful to hear so many of them done again 'live', and some for the first time! You ALWAYS sound great, and your voice just seems to get more beautiful with each passing year--is such a thing even possible?
Oh BTW--is this the exact same set being offered through Quinlan Road/Maple Music? I thought it was, but am wondering for sure!

At first glance th second cd seems redundant but only if seen through the perspective of the single songs, which I'm sure most of us already own. But if we consider it as part of the full package, I think it would make a nice listen together with the live cd. I'm tempted to pre-order today, especially since the official store is amazing in their service, kindness and low prices also for internationl buyers. If you have not tried to purchase from them, I can highly highly recommend it!
But if I buy the cd now, maybe I'll miss some nifty holiday packages in December? What to do?

I'm very looking forward to this album! However, I was a bit confused when i saw that Mummer's Dance was on the tracklist. I always thought that rather belonged to the Irish Celtic part of the music (since it appears already on A Mummer's Dance through Ireland).
