I think my favourite song from AMND would be The Holly and the Ivy.

Looks like I'm the only one so far who voted for 'Emmanuel'. A far better choice would have been 'Can't Decide', of course. Wink

I am greatly enjoying the entire CD; I'd never heard 'Veni Veni Emmanuel' sung in Latin before, and now I feel this is the way it should be performed, for maximum effect.

I've always loved this song, even sung in English; it's based on an ancient plain-song chant (thus would have been sung only in Latin originally) in the Aeolian mode dating back to at least the 12th century. Possibly, it might even go back as far as the 8th century, according to a little Google search I did recently.

Guess I'm a total sucker for anything 'modal'; I became interested in modal music in general when I was 12 years old and never looked back. I'm just grateful Loreena decided to include 'Emmanuel' amongst her 'A Midwinter Night's Dream' offerings. Smiler

I'm not sure if I ordered a particular version. I got it from a local retailer rather than the QR shop. and no, it still hasn't arrived.

I'm with you Gina Mad

not having AMND yet, I naturally can't vote, but we do have A Winter Garden.

I'm currently leanng towards God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen; not only is it my favourite song on AWG, it's probably in my top 10 Loreena songs!

I want to hear the rest of AMND before I set that in concrete, however.

I bought A midwinter night's dream yesterday afternoon...I just can say...WOW!!!!
i MEAN...it's such a stunning album,intense and spiritual.
I find it one of her best work ever,a masterpiece.
Emmanuel pierces my heart everytime i listen to it..i'm glad Loreena sings it in latin...it gives the track solemnity and evergreen appeal(Indeed i'm italian..so i'm proud of latin!)
All the songs are great!holly, the seven rejoices,flambeau..all!
God bless you Loreena!
Gianni.

I voted for The Holly and the Ivy, but I can't really make up my mind.
One of my all-time favourite LM-songs is Snow, so..
But oh well!

Got your copy of AMND yet, Jesse? What version did you order?

Love

Oh my! You guys make it very difficult for me to resist not wanting to listen to it before the christmas-month begins... ;'(

But my mind is made. I have to go through.
I'm desperatly holding on. It is not winter yet, although we did have frost last night here in DK! But not a cruel one as in Good King Wenceslas. Razzer Big Grin

I have been listening to this GREAT album for 4 days and I do enjoy it more and more and more...I voted the third song, the seven rejoices of Mary, which sounds fantastic. Anyway every song is really amazing; I have discovered seeds of love too again.
