I saw Loreena in Reading, Pennsylvania this April and I really loved the live version of Beneath of Phrygian Sky. I would love to have a high quality recording of it on par with what was released on the Nights from the Alhambra Live Set. However, it's not likely that another live CD would be commercially released anytime soon.

Would it be possible for the site to consider making a digital single for Beneath a Phrygian Sky available? I'd definitely buy it. I'd also buy The Highwayman and Gates of Istanbul Live, both of which were performed on the Ancient Muse Tour but not Nights from the Alhambra. Loreena sounds better than ever these days and the live version of BaPS is splendid. I'd love to have a copy.

I hoped for the same thing! Beneath A Phrygian Sky is my favorite song of Loreena's and i was fortunate to see it live the first time I saw her live in April, but later when i went to her concert again she didn't play it. I was dissapointed but not resentful.

Great thread. I totally agree that the concerts have very different versions than the Alhambra DVD -- yes, same songs, but somehow more vibrant and wild -- more reverberating drums, more band playing with total enjoyment and not so reserved. I wonder, though, if that can ever be truly captured on a live album ... I would bet not. Makes the concerts all the more special.

Hello Brian,

There is not a live version of BAPS or the other songs you refer to at this time – of course singles from AAM (BAPS) are available on itunes and via our webshop.

Regards,

Jill

You people are lucky already because you can see the "real" Loreena live rather than from a DVD Big Grin I really wish I could have a chance to attend Loreena's concert one day.

But oh, I think it will be really great if QR would release a "highlight extracts" CD of the AAM tour. Wink But having the Nights from the Alhambra DVD already is a dream come true to me. Thank you Loreena!

I'm all in favor of the release of digital downloads of individual songs (live or studio)on the Quinlan Road site. I already have "Live In San Francisco", "Live In Paris & Toronto" & "NFTA".
I don't think I need another "live" album quite
yet. However, I'm sure if something came out I would end up with it sooner, rather than later. Another studio album would be what I'd like to see her focus on.
Right now I'm just happy about my second row seats for the Portland, Maine show.

I too am hoping that Loreena releases a live concert version of her AAM tour. She will someday!

I would love to get a digital copy of those songs as well I remember sitting front row dead center at the SLC concert and when LM finished The Highwayman, realizing that I had goosebumps and that this version was different than any other version I had heard her sing. I loved the percussion and the upbeat nature of this live version.

I realize that there is a live version on LIPAT but the version she sang for The Ancient Muse tour was very different.

So is there a possibility for these to be released?

I would definitely agree that BaPS + Caravanserai are very different from anything we've heard from Loreena thus far. They both deal with big ideas and are executed with amazing skill. I would also love to hear a live Kercharitomene. This song is just so intense and exciting on the studio recording that I can't really imagine how mind blowing it would be live.

Thanks for the responses. I have The Highwayman from Live in Paris & Toronto, but I for the sake of completion I wouldn't mind having a more modern version of it (not that there's much difference, just sound quality and acoustics). BaPS and GoI would be most important though. They should either release them as digital singles or append them to any single release from An Ancient Muse that's being contemplated.

I would second that. Come on every body let us say yes to it and make it worth while for LM.
Is there anyway to make it exclusive to community members in the digital download section.

"The Highwayman" is available live on the Paris & Toronto release. Can't help you on the other two, but I like the way you think!

I certainly agree. Though I didn't get to see Beneath A Phrygian Sky live, I loved The Highwayman and Gates of Istanbul live. I'm pretty sure there's a live recording of The Highwayman on Live in Paris and Toronto (which, unfortunatlely, I don't own). The live Gates of Istanbul totally blew me away. It had always been a song that I enjoyed and liked (this I can say of everything done by Loreena) and seeing it on the setlist didn't make me leap for joy. But the live performance was so mysterious, exciting, and wonderful that I haven't looked at the song the same way since. You're making me curious about the live BaPS (it's one of my favourite LM songs). Hopefully we'll get our wish!
