i just watched the dvd..what can i say..it left me breathless..very well done, high quality video loreena's voice comes from heaven..i mean it is the same like on her cd's,it's so neat and crystalline..only few singers can bear live the same vocal effects of the cd's..so brilliant Then the band is so present to the show, they have fun, smile to loreena and their musical talent is always the same, impeccable;i'm so delighted by hugh marsh and his violin,he seems to be on trance while playing..then caroline lavelle..she's so elegant and sophisticated in the way she plays the cello, the other musicians are incredible too,the greek one, rick lazar, hughes, the drummer loreena looks so calm and well inclined to the crowd too,in good mood

Thanks Wolf~ I'll watch it with commentary next time! I saw Loreena in L.A. Thursday, Oakland Sat. & San Rafael Sun.!!! I just can't get enuf! Just watched Loreena's wonderful DVD Nights at the Alhambra. It's exquisitely done. The Alhambra is AWESOME! There are a few differences in the band in this 2006 presentation. The illustrious Nigel Eaton is on Hurdy Gurdy. Nigel has appeared with Robert Plant on his fantastic '93 Fate of Nations cd & I took my bud Steve to the same place we saw Loreena in to see the Plant tour that year. Back then it was called the Universal Amphitheater, being part of Universal Studios. It was purchased by Gibson awhile back & is called the Gibson Amphitheater now. Nigel also played with Page & Plant & is on their dvd No Quarter & I saw him with them twice at the Forum in L.A. in '95. There's a Greek lookin' gentleman on OUD & doonbeck who is no longer in the band. There is also a cat who looks like me with a black cowboy hat & shades & long hair playing a mysterious bagpipe type squeezebox thing. He too is no longer in the band. There is another guy who is also no longer in the band who is playing another exotic instrument....some kind of dulcimer or something. The drummer is not behind a plexiglass screen on the dvd either. The exotic landscapes & city scenes interespersed throughout the concert are gorgeous. Loreena is shown walking thru ornate holy buildings & gazing over beautiful timeless places she has traveled to.... She's so lovely. We met twice & we hugged the first time, then the 2nd meeting I asked for another hug for my friend Steve & she giggled with glee & we hugged again!! Wish I would have kissed her face too!! At least I kissed her hand. Looking forward to her autobiography. There's a short Bio on Wikipedia. I wanna get to know her better... ...& learn her songs & music on various instruments. This dvd will help me & Steve to learn.

I've only just arrived at this fantastic site! The site is what I would hoped it to be, all about this great musician/singer, Loreena Mckennitt. I recently got the great privilege to view on PBS, Dallas, the Great Performance concert. It was beyond words! Mesmerized and totally captivated were myself and my wife for the entire hour and a half.
The other musicians on the stage seemed to be honored to be on stage with her, I would have been.
I heard Mckennitts' music many a time via PBS radio back in the early 90's while traveling up and down the interstate from Dallas and back to my rural home/business. I never could capture her name, they, the radion announcers never called out her name, so for all of these long years I never knew who that was that was singing with this fantastic voice. I finally got to not only hear her music again, but also to see her and learn her name, she put on the greatest music exhibitions I've ever seen.
I am waiting, impatiently mind you, for the release of the DVD 3 set in the fall. It, to me, will be worth just about any price.
Thank you, Loreena Mckennitt for making this music.
I've never posted on any other musician's site, this is a first, but I felt I must!

In the Netherlands the DVD-combined with live album went for 30 Euros (cheap!) I don't know about the t-shirts (doesn't anyone agree that the t-shrts they sell are quite lame? just a picture of the cd or something similar and the list of cities ... boring!). Love, Phantas
