Hello everyone,

I think I will be one of your youngest members with 16 and as you can guess I'm joining you from Istanbul. First, I've discovered Parallel Dreams by chance and I'm still trying to get all her albums. I still couldn't forget the first effect of Dickens' Dublin and still trying to get everything with my heart, it's so great...
I'm playing guitar, mostly blues or progressive rock; and writing some short fiction for fun (I mostly write about mirrors and dreams, that was just one of the things get me easily into Loreena's music.).

By the way, is there any topic about tour plans of Loreena; we would love to see her in Istanbul (I don't know whether she has visited us).

I hope I will have great time in this forum, well; see you around

Greetings to you Dieter!

As you can guess I couldn't go far away from Freud in psychologie because of my age (Actually I've been reading his books just since last summer.) but the ideas and thesis of those two psychologists sounds great! I'll check out the stores and see if I can find something; you know, Freud can be weird sometimes (sometimes, okay always), especially when he finds a way to explain everything with sexuality.

By the way, I'm flying to Germany this summer but the city I'll go is a little souther than yours, it's München: )

@freesoul: I guess it must be boring to learn an author like him in the school with homeworks and exams, however you really must read some of his books like "Il cavaliere inesistente" (Unexistent knight?) or "Tutte le cosmocomiche" (All of cosmocomics?). He is the most talented author I know and has a very sharp sense of humor.

Thanks to you all

Hi and welcome on this board, nevermore.

Your thoughts about parallels worlds, different realities, dreams, are very interesting. It`s a source of creativity, imagination and visions. Freud called the dreams as the "royal way the subconscious". But in the end he was determined by a materialistic scientific view on this phenomenons. In contrast later humanistic psychologists such as Erich Fromm or Abraham Maslow emphasize that there exists a deeper or "higher" level of consciousness, finally they speak of a "spiritual" level, which is very important for the existential health of human beeings. They have explored experiences both of ordinary people as well artists out of varoius areas.
Loreena's music is an expression of this
deeper level and touches our deeper feelings as a nurse says in the tour documentary, her music is very healing and has a powerful message. And she is authentic, there is no "esoteric posture"! Listening to songs like "Dante's prayer", "Never-ending road", "Beneath the Phrygian sky" I feel my heart opening to another powerful reality and truth.
As you I long for seeing her live in concert.

Warm greetings to Istanbul

Hi,

thanks for you suggestions. I know all the three authors, a bit deeper Freud and Poe. When I attended high school, I read Tales of Mystery and Imagination by Poe, and I found them funny. But you can imagine, when you have to read works for duty rather than pleasure, it's not always easy to taste them and recognize their real value. I approached Freud at the university, and I was quite interested in his theories. Instead I must admit that I know almost nothing about Calvino, as it is an author seldom studied at school.
When I have a bit of spare time, I'll try to know him better. Roll Eyes
Cheers.

Hello again!

@Dan: Thanks for the reply, I will always keep an eye on the program and hope that she won't let us wait too much: )

@freesoul: I'm glad to hear there are many others like me, I can suggest you some authors that you might like: Edgar Allan Poe (I'm sure you've heard and read of him.), Italo Calvino (From your country, one of my favourite authors at all: ) and maybe Freud for a scientifical look on everything, Comments on Dreams (Or something like that in English) was a great book telling the pschological sides of dreams and believe me, it helps you to imagine about them. Also thanks for your kind words, I'd love to share them here but I'm sorry because I'm writing in Turkish.

Hi nevermore! Loreena did play once in Istanbul, way back in 1996. I believe she's also taken a number of personal trips through Turkey as well. She seems to like the area well. I'm sure it's just a matter of time until she returns to play in Istanbul. She often includes Athens on her European tours, so she could just swing up your way, hopefully.

Welcome on this messageboard!

I am actually very curious about your short stories about mirrors and dreams. I think dreams can embody our innermost desires, that's why they speak of ourselves more than words. I am very keen on memories too, another treasure in my life, unfortunately not always a blessing..., anyway a dimension where you can live a 'parallel' life, or dream, why not.
Cheers!

Hi nevermore

I know what you mean (or I think I do). English is not my primary language either.

What I also find very interesting is that living would be almost impossible if we hadn't had dreams. At least I think so, I haven't tried not to have dreams (they're always here)!

Speaking of dreams...
I hope you will be able to see ms. McKennitt live some day!

My thought are nearly same with yours', I always imagine that there are many parallel worlds we can't even count and the reflections coming from mirrors is from one of these parallel worlds that has all the same possibilities and choices with ours', that's why we see almost same things from a mirror.

About dreams, in my opinion they are just another kind of mirrors in our mind; but apart from a mirror the visions we saw in dreams can bring different conditions together.

It's funny to see everything in that way and certainly that helps me to find a new story everywhere; but I'm not sure if I did share my thoughts with the true words, my English can be worse sometimes.

Thanks for the nice greeting: )

Hi nevermore

A warm welcome to you.

It sounds very interesting your writing about mirrors and dreams.
I've sometimes think dreams are things hidden in the mirror. And some day they will reflect.

There is a tour-site here on this website. Under "Performances" you'll find the dates, and plans for future tours and events. Smiler

Well, I just wanted to welcome you to the forum.

Many greetings

Anxious
