My name's Hassan, though I've got plenty of screen names I use throughout the internet. I've been a fan of Loreena McKennitt for almost a year now, I first discoverd her when I was browsing Arabic-themed music, and stumbled upon 'Kecharitomene', and was hooked instantly. Even now, after listening to pretty much all of her work, that track still remains my favourite, and I honestly think that 'An Ancient Muse' is her best album, though her others aren't that far behind.
As well as taking over my music tastes, Loreena's the one who's really got me into Celtic music, and over the last year or so, I've discovered, and grown to love, lot's of other music in this genre, one of my favourites being 'Celtic Woman'.
Anyway, enough rambling for now, I hope to get to know everyone on this forum and have a great time
When the "An Ancient Muse" album is newly released, I was going to Istanbul and listening the album and there was a great correspondance between songs and real conditions.
Caravansarai : listen on a resting location Never ending road : when you feel that the journey is so long Gates of Istanbul : coming into Istanbul Sacred Shabbath (Turkish name of the song is Uskudar'a gider iken (while going to Uskudar)) : The first stop of buses in Istanbul is at Uskudar Kecharitomene : The happiness of the arrival
Some of them played randomly until I realize the correspondance; after that I select the songs, it was very nice
I'm looking forward to participate on a concert of Loreena Mckennitt in Istanbul. I hope it become true with the presence of you also
Abdullah - It's great to meet someone from Turkey, some of Loreena's music has a strong Turkish influence, and I believe, on the sleeve on Ancient Muse, there is a picture of the magnificient Blue Mosque. I would love to visit Istanbul one day, particularly the Aya Sofya.
Anxious - no I haven't been that lucky - yet. I would give almost anything though to see her perform live.
Loreenya - I live in a tiny place called Qatar, just bordering Saudi Arabia - and yes, I do love the Mystics dream , especially the intro. I've grown to love all of her music though, whether it contains Middle Eastern music or not, in fact, I must thank her for introducing me to the lovely world of Celtic music.
Jesse - it's great to meet another newbie, I think we're going to have a great time here.
Dear lapluie, You know, I haven't actually heard An Ancient Muse yet! I'm trying to get my family to buy it for me for my birthday! I love Celtic Music as well, most likely as I am of Irish descent. I would love to go to Ireland, however, I've never been outside of my home country! anyway, I'll get there one day. I see that you've only just joined yesterday...Same here; this is the first message I've ever posted on here besides when I introduced myself! hope you're enjoying the message board. I've got to go now, but you keep enjoying Kecharitomene. I'll let you know what I think of it when I've actually listed to it. Losta Luv from Jesse

Salaam alaykum, dear Hassan: Welcome to the Quinlan Road Message Board. Ah, so I see we have another Middle Eastern Loreenakateer. So, exactly where in the Middle East are you from? I know a young woman from Iran who loves Loreena McKennitt. I am glad you love "Kecharitomene". Do you like "The Mystic's Dream"? That song has a Middle-Eastern flavor, with some touches of Persian music. And as I say it in Farsi, "Khoda havez". --Loreenya

Kecharitomene is a special song for me also. After listening it the first time I've thought "What else can be done as a song?", it is amazing.
Actually, I tried to mention tmy favourite songs of Loreena Mckennitt but at each trial after writing a song's name another one came to my mind that I cannot come to an end of the list. All the songs are special and great . Thanks again to L. Mckennitt.
