hello. glad to be here. I'm a 54 year old married social worker, and have found myself to be at a very interesting juncture in my life at this point. I'm doing a lot more inward searching, reflection, meditation, etc., and recently Loreen's music has really impacted me greatly. Far more than I would have expected. So, figured I'd also log into the board here. (dunno if being of Scottish descent also influences me here) anyway, thanks ...

Unsure how I missed this post. I have spent a good deal of time in the Evansville and surrounding areas. Indiana is a beautiful state! I live where Ohio Kentucky and Indiana all join.
Nice to hear from you...Be well, stay in touch.

sorry that it has taken so long to respond. I appreciate the warm welcome. my trek toward discovering Ms. McKennitt's music started with a malady which is common to those of Celtic origins, I am afraid --- I loved the bottle quite a bit too much. Actually, it got very very bad -- I was a very sick man. And, lots of other substances were layered in on top of the alcohol. So, I did get clean and sober --- also became a social worker, etc. Recovery and social work led me toward discovering buddhism and meditation, which I started practicing roughly a year ago. I have always liked Celtic music in the abstract, but was always more of a rocker. Anyway, the meditation practice has caused some shifts in what I want to spend a lot of time hearing and taking in, especially when on the road between cases. I had some of Ms McKennitt's music about, but awhile back after a weekend retereat I picked it up and was absolutely floored by it. Since then, I am listening a lot and actively seeking out more. Also, I am interested in her cultural and archaeolgical/anthropological pursuits and musical themes (and respect the research she devoted to them). In fact, though I know its a bit of a pipe dream, there's a couple of connections I am wondering about regarding some of the places and peoples she has covered, and would love to be able to get her opinion on a couple of questions. Not likely, I know... Again, thanks much more the welcome. And your story is ...?

I like your avatar-pic. It's like talling me that things are combined. (Not sure I discribe it right. Sometimes it's hard to express your feelings in another language than your mother tongue)
And now to my standard question to new members, but it certainly isn't meant to be standard. I truly am interested in hearing peoples stories. I myself was introduced to ms McK's music by a very dear friend.
How did you find the music of ms McKennitt?
Anyway, you are very welcome here.
Anxious 2 hear more...

It's great that you found yourself hooked by Loreena's music, I think it is due to the spirituality inherent in her songs, and then I would say your roots 'are calling you home'
I have no celtic origins, but I assure you I can't help listening to her albums anymore, as her spirituality and depth are really spellbinding.
See you soon!

welcome to the board! I'm a five years older also "late discoverer" of Loreena's music (November 2008). Your experiences are similar to mines. I practice meditation for a long time and deeply touched by her music I felt immediatly the spiritual dimension of it.
Find more inspiration here!
Warm Greetings
