Hi there, my name is David. I am 16 yeears old, this past Dec. 21st. Apart from listening to Loreena I listen to classical, canadian folk and new age music. But I'm not going to lie, since I discovered Loreena in November, I bought all of her CD's and haven't really listened to anything since. I was at Chapters (a book store), bieng recipient of alot of money as an ex-employee of a grocery store, I decided to celebrate my freedom with some books! So waiting in the line to pay, I saw this really pretty CD depicting a forest and some animals -which was a Mid Winter's Night dream.....and I was about to spend around 100 dollars on my books so I looked at it but dispelled any thought of buying it.....
So latr on I bought my favourtie christmas song (God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman) from that album off of ITunes. And it so...absolutely breathtaking and beuatiful that it inspired me to buy an ipod and fill it with all of Loreena's songs. And that, my friends, is how I was introduced to Loreena!!!
As for myself, I's like to consider myself an avid reader and writer I'm also very spiritual, as a practising Catholic, which, in my CATHOLIC school (ironically) is apparently not the 'NORM'...so because f that I'm a relatively lonely, friendless and shy mishap but I console myself with endless books and music. I don;'t have any cable, its true, and I'm 100% proud of that fact. As far as I'm concerned its a distraction. I guess alot of people would consider me to be a little boring, but my life is, for the most part, a happy and content one. Sometimes I fancy myself as being a celebrity interviewed on a talk show with many interesting things to say....I know thats a little weird but I spend alot of my time doing it haha.
Anyways, the next highlight in my life will be seeing Loreena McKennit live in conert. I'd ask my best friend, but I;'m not sure if that's the type of genre she'd enjoy! Nut nonetheless, I'm waiting here in anticipation for that....
And just for the record, my favourtie song by Loreena is Stolen Child, Santiago, The Old Ways and All Souls Night.
Anways, God bless and perhaps leave a comment or two and let me know who you are!

It's really fascinating to see the range of ages of Loreena's fans and the different ways of discovering her music. And I think it's no coincidence that they all like you are very individualistic. Loreena herself is a deeply individualistic person following her own way, at the same time she touches deeper levels of feelings by her music we share all together. It's a paradoxical "spiritual" phenomenon - "...there is so much more to bind us together ..." - as Loreena says introducing her song "Never-ending road" on the Alhambra DVD. Perhaps you'll share her music with friends at home some day - I hope so.
warm greetings
Dieter

Not being of the NORM is cool because that would also appy to myself - being a clone is boring.
But being lonely and friendless is not a very nice way to live a life - such a young life - don't only bury yourself in books and music. The real life goes on outside - in the real world - and it may take time but you'll find out that it is a wonderful place to dwell upon...
Of course it got to me. (Everybody actually, but that's irrellevant)
I was amaced how different the series of Top model was. She has a good imagination Tyra Banks. And she (and her crew) managed to make each serie unique, in a way.

Well nonetheless, it's definitely a relief to know that there are other 'nonsensical' people about without TV, haha. And America's Next Top Model...hahaha. Whenever I go over to my cousins house she's always watching it and....wow. Its probably one of the reasons my parents got rid of TV altogether! Anywyas, good talking to you, hope this gets to you!

Oh, you are 'out of' the NORM, my favourite! More original and authentic for sure.
It's a pity you discovered Loreena so lately, as she has toured so much in these last two years. Even one-month Canadian tour only. But I have no doubt she will get on the bus with her band very soon, to our great joy. Cheers.

Hello Polaris! Welcome to the MB! I am very jealous that you live in the same country as our favourite singer...it would be much easier for you to see LM live than it would be for me...she hasn't been to Australia for over a decade now Whereabouts in Canada is Brampton? is it reasonably cose to Stratford? We have several catholic schools like yours here; some of the students there can be real brats - one stuck chewing gum in my hair once! So, although I have nothing at all against Catholics, I'm very glad that I'm not a student at a catholic school! But enough about that. I see that you consider yourself a writer...you might want to check out the post in the "General" section entitled Winter's First Snow...it's evolved into a sort of writing hub! Anyway, I'd better go, but I hope you enjoy yourself here. I also hope you can find yourself a friend and not be so lonely anymore (I am in a similar situation myself, although apperently not as extreme as yours).
BIG HUG from Jesse

You know what, I think it's good that we are some strange people in the world. It gives some perspective. At least from my point of view. I don't know about those normal types...
I desided not to have TV because it stole my time. All those trivial TV programs (Paradise Hotel, Big Brother, and all the Girl-meets-lots-of-boys-have-to-choose(and vice versa)-programs, and my favourite (I actually did see almost all versions) Americas Next Top Model! And once Canadas Next Top Model. Wow! Passtime but very entertaining. Oh yes I forgot... All those how-to-make-your-home-a-better-place (Extreme Makeovers). I almost sent a letter suggesting something completely new: A program of how to make doghouses to give your best friend a nice life too!
Sorry I got a little eager...
Oh! I've almost forgotten to say welcome to you! Welcome!
I'm sure you'll find some friends here.
And I'm sure you will see ms McKennit live someday, you are afterall a canadian. And She must do some concerts at your homeland too.
Many greetings
Anxiouz

This message board suprises me everytime when I read a message, it's growing day by day and you can find every kind of people from any age range.
I wonder how does it like to be a student of a catholic school, do you have to be a priest or father in the next part of your life or are you going to study catholic in an academical way (I don't know if there's a college department like theology, but as long as they opened a The Beatles master class; why not?)?
I'm also a sixteen and now I believe there are many sixteens in world listening to Loreena: ) Except Loreena I liston to Queen, Blind Guardian, Led Zeppelin and some blues guitarists mostly and I also like reading and writing like you. Oh my, there's so much to read, so much to listen, so many to meet; it's really an endless world.
By the way, welcome aboard and greeting from Turkey: ) nevermore
