Hello, all, from sunny Southern California! This is really awesome being a member of the Quinlan Road message board! I have been listening to Loreena since seventh grade (almost five years ago). I have never met her, and, sadly, just missed her San Diego concert a couple years ago by a week! (If anyone reading this has met her, please tell me about your experience!
Anyhow, here's a little bit about myself. Of course, I live in California. But, for some reason, there seem to be a lot of misconceptions. I think the main one is that we are constantly saying "like" in each sentence. (If there's anyone else from Cali, drop me a line!) If there's anything else you would like to know, just check my profile! Later!--Alex

Thanks! I have been here for almost two years, but every day is a new adventure! Your break sounds like fun...you're lucky you get more than one week off! Ours was for one week in mid-March. My family and I went up to Big Bear (a little mountain resort in Southern California) for the last part of the break. It was a lot of fun, especially since it snowed while we were up there. What are you studying? I'm a pre-veterinary animal science major. It's a lot of fun but very hard.

All the best
Alex

Rain, rain...I don't know whether I want you to go away or not! On the one hand, it's been so dang nice here in San Luis that the sudden change is kind of bringing me down. On the other hand, I'm glad the weather's FINALLY made up its mind. We'd have lows in the 40s and highs in the 70s or 80s. (degrees F, of course)
I've been teaching myself Irish dance as of late; it's so much fun! I have the beginners' reel, light jig, and now I'm working on the slip jig. Does anyone else here do Irish dance? Just curious!
Hope you're all doing well! Until next time...
Alex

Hiya!
Well, now I'm off at college! I think I've mentioned it several times...
The weather can be really weird here in SLO...the first week it was cold in the morning and hot by 11 am. Then it was just plain hot, and only one of the classrooms had functioning air conditioning. But sadly, we didn't even need it then!
But now it's RAINING!!!!! I've got the window open in our room and if I hadn't caught the bug that's goin' around, I would be one happy camper! It's just a cold, so it's not that bad. Just annoying. I'm glad Chelsea keeps soup on hand! She's an awesome roommate, in general! Smiler
I'm loving my classes so far! I really like Animal Science 112, which is the actual science part...101 is the career planning. I'm in the pre-vet animal science, so hopefully next year I can do the enterprise at our campus vet clinic! I can't wait! Or there's the foaling enterprise in the spring quarter! That should be SO MUCH FUN!!! Honestly, who doesn't like baby animals?! Don't answer that. Roll Eyes
I can NOT WAIT for Loreena's new album to come out, and possibly to see her on tour! Hopefully she'll stop in California!
I hope you're all doing well! Can't wait to hear more from ya! XOXO
Love,
Alex

Hello again!
Sorry I haven't been on in a while! I've been busy with homework, college stuff (Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, here I come! Razzer), and pretty much everything in between!
So how's the weather for you out there? Today for me, even though it's the middle of February, I was able to wear my favourite sun dress! It felt more like August than anything else. Trust me...it gets boring after a while! Roll Eyes But tomorrow, Mom and I will be up in Big Bear, so we'll get a nice break!
Anyone watch the Olympics? They were retty good! Especially the opening ceremonies, for apparant reasons! I can't wait for one of the snowboarding competitions, though. There's a kid on Team USA named Shaun White, who's also known as "The Flying Tomato" because of his red hair. I can't wait to watch him!
I had a nice chat with my friend Jessi this evening, too. It was really nice to talk to her, but it's hard because of the two hour time difference. She also loves Loreena's music, and has even choreographed some of her dances for clogging to her music. They're really cool! This evening, we were talking about stars who would be interesting together in a show of some kind, or even just a picture. Our favourite pair: Loreena McKennitt (of course!) and Kristin Chenoweth! Of course, Kristin is quite...how do I put this politely...petite, at four-foot-eleven, and Loreena seems pretty tall in general. And that combined with their unique senses of humour, with Kristin being more of a physical comedienne, and Loreena's slightly drier sense of humour! And I almost forgot their exquisite singing voices!
Also, my job at the Escondido Humane Society is still going well! I've also been put in charge of feeding the ed. department's corn snake, named Sandy! I think she's become more in-tune to her feeding times, because before, I used to have to drag her out of her enclosure to get her into her feeding cage, but last time she was out and waiting! We also got a new bearded dragon named Dexter. Oh, gosh is he a sweetie! you just put him on your shoulder and he either falls asleep or just hangs out! We've used him for many girl scout tours, and they love him every time! Big Grin
Well, I have a big day ahead of me...two hours of driving, one of them up a steep, winding hill! Eeker Talk to you soon!
Alex

I 'like' that. Though I'm not from California! Big Grin

A warm welcome on board.

Welcome to QR, Alex. Smiler I hope you enjoy looking around here.

I know Loreena's music since I was in 5ht grade. My teacher played The Highwayman for us when we were covering the poem. Smiler

There's always another opportunity! You just need to wait for it coming.
