Hi all, my name is Ginny and I'm located in North Carolina. I have been a fan of Loreena's music for 11yrs and was elated to finally see her perform the other night (Asheville, NC 4/26). I always feel like I'm the only one who knows about Loreena so the large, enthusiastic audience was a great surprise!
Sadly, I had to miss the encores. I hated to do that (it's the first time i've ever left a concert early) but I had a 3hr drive plus I knew the rain would add time to the trip, it was already 10:30p.m. and I had to leave town again at 7:30 the next morning, with some Friday tasks that involved my concentration. I didn't want to get stuck in traffic so I went ahead and left. =( I'm focusing on how lucky I am to have gotten to go at all, though, as it was the only night in 2 weeks I had free.
Thanks! I'm a trumpet player in a brass quintet and we definitely don't rap, so at least I can usually avoid that unfortunate genre. =) Last year we were touring in China and I traded some cds with our translators--I gave them some Loreena McKennitt albums and they gave me some albums of Chinese singers. They e-mailed me a few weeks after I got home and said they really like Loreena's music!
I'm still really happy on a daily basis about getting to see the concert last week. I waited such a long time for that! ~Ginny
I know what you mean about feeling like the only person who knows about Loreena's music: I seem to be the only one, where I work, who even likes the music! It can be so depressing, having to listen to heavy-metal and rap all day, when your soul calls out for All Souls Night and Bonny Portmore .....
