I'm not exactly sure when I became a fan of Loreena's. I found her music through internet radio of all things, but it's been at least 5 years. Before that I was pretty much limited to the pieces I was playing/singing for school, field trips to see the local symphony orchestra, and whatever my parents happened to be listening to.
Sadly I have never had the pleasure of seeing her in concert but that is one thing I would love to do. Nothing compares to watching a live performance.

Lizjul,
Already done.
I hope so! That would be fantastic.

Very nice to see and read of persons such as yourself, just finding new pleasures in life. Such as the music of Loreena. I have long been one to make sure Music is a part of my daily experience here in life. And Loreena's craft and gifts are a big part of it. Music is an added duile in my life....and I am happy it is... Stay in touch, share with us bits of your life and hope for life ahead....

An-Da, I'm so glad someone replied! I suppose I'm not used to moderated forums like this, or maybe I'm just impatient, but I was afraid no one would.
I like to think that my previous experience with music set me up to love singers with strong and pure voices, especially if they play instruments on top of that. Loreena is one of the few performers I genuinely enjoy everything they perform, rather than just a song or two. That happens all too often with more "mainstream" music.
Music has meant everything to me since I was very young. I've made so many friends through performing, or even just listening to music, and more than once I've found myself in the same rehearsal room as a friend that moved away several years before. It's helped me learn more about my family too. It seems like whenever I learn a new instrument, whether at a teacher's prompting or curiosity getting the better of me, I end up hearing of some relative played the same thing. It has led me to construct a family tree and learn more about Ireland, where most of my family is from.
It's a journey, and I'm just at the beginning.
