Hello everyone,

I'm Emeraldmoongypsy(Emeraldmoon) from Silver Lake Wisconsin and just noticed that there was a forum like this on QR, although I have been a member of the QR community for about 1 or 2 months. I have been a fan of Loreena's since about 97-98 and I believe I only have two more albums to buy before my cd collection is complete. About a month ago, I believe, I just happened to get a chance to see the last part of the PBS broadcast of Nights in Alhambra(?) and was just in awe. Then when I found out she was coming to Chicago I had to get some tickets. I am so glad I did!

Anyway, here is my little review of Loreena's concert in Chicago May 1st. I just copied and pasted it from my Myspace page.

<<I'm not too good at posting reviews, but Iwill do my best.

Last night, May 1 (Beltane), my friend (roommate) and myself had a very pleasant experience in Chicago as we attened Loreena Mckennitts concert at the Civic Opera House. I had never been to a concert that was full of talented musicians, so many different types of insturments, and very real. The setting was intimate, relaxed and mezmerizing, and the stage was so beautifuly decorated.

The band members were amazing! I mean really I guess that is all I can say about them. On a couple of the songs, the guitarist and the violinst were going back and forth as if talking to each other through their insturments and was just amazing. Going back to the guitarist, he had to be playing 3- 4 different insturments and most of the time, he was bouncing from the electric guitar to another type of guitar (not exactly sure what it was), but he was amazing. The drummer was amazing as well and I enjoyed the interaction between the band members, they all seem to really enjoy what they do.

Now Loreena, WOW! Very very talented and amazing. Not only does she have a beautiful voice, but she can play different insturments. Loreena played the Harp (beautiful insturment), accordion, keyboard, and piano last night and was amazing. Loreena gave us a brief history of the celts and her "processes" on the creation of some her songs, refreshing. Not may musicians/artist will do that, and it was just really nice to listen to how her creative process begins when writting. She also talked about some of her travels and was very touching, which I thought brought more meaning and understanding to a couple of her songs. There were some interaction between the audiance and Loreena, which just made the experience that much more real and intimate. Oh, and the way she talked shows that she is truly a grounded person (for those of us who knows what that means). I guess I really don't know what to say, she was that good. I hope that she continues to tour, I would definetly make every effort to see her again.

Thank you Loreena for making it to Chicago!>>

Thank you,
Emeraldmoon

Hello Artur, Thank you for the welcome! Sounds like you had great seats other then the speakers. We were located in the center (orchestra level) on the far right edge. It was perfect, with the exception I had forgotten my glasses and maybe a pair of binoculars. It was absolutely perfect!

Thank you for the welcome Dan. Yes, I think I would make a couple of shows if she does tour again. I think Madison is only an 1.5 hours away from where I am and would definetly try to make a couple of shows. It would also be kind of cool to make a trip up to Canada for show.

Welcome, Emeraldmoon;

Yes, Loreena is amazing! I saw her & company last night in Minneapolis, and it was just so great...but next time, I'm getting a seat further out in the "undesirable" area: Towards the middle of the floor! See, the speakers were right next to me, on the right-hand side of the stage...... Eeker

Welcome, Emeraldmoon! Yeah, Loreena is amazing! Let's hope there's another tour in the future. I'm willing to attend every show within 150 miles (that would include Chicago).
