I've known about Loreena McKennitt and her beautiful voice for a whole day now. Either that, or maybe all my life; I'm not sure.
This morning I was looking for the words to Alfred Noyes' "Highwayman\" a favorite of my wife's and mine, and I saw a YouTube link to Loreena's song. I'd always thought it would be great to put "Highwayman" to music, so I started the YouTube.
Whoa.
Some singers require a bit of getting used to; and then there're those who sing one song and capture you. Richard Thompson and The Chieftans come to mind, and now Loreena.
I think a lot of her tunes will lend themselves to bluegrass; after all, bluegrass at its roots is as neo-Celtic as it is anything else, and if punkers like Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly can interpret it, so can this redneck.
Did I mention her beautiful voice?

Art, music, sport, food, drink....there is something different to offer for our world community, with not all having the same taste....but this music, this Lady, her craft brings to life a community of its own. Not hard to figure, but more so to put in words at times... She surely is in touch with her inner stone....which has helped many find thier inner light also.....
Be well....live wisely....
Mesa is a beautiful country....

Was engulfed from the very first three notes I heard. I learned later that it was All Souls Night. Couldn't help but hum along. Didn't know the words, obviously.
Well, I hope you'll have lots of fun here.
Greetings
Anxious
