Hi Everyone!
I can't even begin to describe how I have been influenced by Loreena's music. I had the good fortune of seeing her perform in Salt Lake city on May 7, 2007. It was magic. I was in the very front row. Unbelievable concert! I have been a fan of her music since 1992, and in '98 I went back to school to get my BA in music. In November I released my Debut CD. If you're interested check it out at www.cdbaby.com/cd/judithweikle (you will recognize Loreena's influence) Smiler
Can't wait for her book to be released. I heard she was doing another North American tour in the fall. Does anyone know if that is true? It's great to be a part of Loreena's community of friends!
Sincerely and Best Regards.

Aye, what a wonderful surprise...very beautiful music Judith! Now, the fiddle got my heart...it runs deep in the roots of my ancestors (Gaels). My grandmother was a fiddler, as well as piano and accordian player. Actually, when the whole family would start dancing, people needed to make room, which is probably why my great-grandfather had so much land, lol. Aye, we're a spirited lot.
I just absolutely love your music!
Warm blessings to you!

Bonny Portmore is one of my all-time favourite celtic songs!
you've got a very soothing voice,it bears the celtic vocal tradition Smiler
the musicians too are great.
the second track is so touching, very deep in its lament.
wyoming must be such an ispiring place..actually it's not world wide known but i think it is very european rooted, isn't it?
Jackson is a great town, it is named after 19th century mountain man Davey Jackson, this area was his rendevous point. It is nestled in a valley with mountains all around, hence the name Jackson Hole. I have always wanted to go to Italy. I hear the food is to die for. As for Loreena's NAmerican tour in the fall, I can't remember where I heard that. I thought at Quinlan Rd.hmmm. Carry on..
Judith

yep,Italy is a very nice country, not only for the food Big Grin
i come from Abruzzo,a region near Rome... it is known as "the green region" cause there are three national parks plus several nature reserves;we've got the sea,the adriatic sea, hills, lakes but especially mountains:the "Gran Sasso" is the highest mountain of "Appennini",almost 3000 meter high..a lot of sky resorts as well Smiler
some landscapes resemble the irish ones..meadows and rivers everywhere Smiler

I clicked on your link, went in and listened to your CD sound clips, and immediately placed my order for one of your CDs! And please know that I NEVER do such things, not right off the bat like that. Your music is MY kind of music, for sure; I know varients of the songs on tracks 1, 2, 3, and (duh) 6; after just one 'listen' to the sound clips, track 10 is rather a standout, for me. Now, I can hardly wait to receive my copy of your actual CD in the mail! Smiler

Lovely light, mezzo-soprano voices are wonderful for singing this kind of music, and yours is right 'up there', to my ear! Not since Connie Dover have I run across anything quite like this CD you've made. I'm quite a collector but I'm also picky. Used to be an actual 'real musician' also, but I'm 'old', now. Wink (That's my own excuse for not adding to the growing list of home-recorded songs placed on YouTube, etc, and then posted in these forums.)

I'm really impressed that you just happen to live in one of my most favorite places ever--Jackson, Wyoming! Wow! What I wouldn't give, to get back up there one of these days! Totally in love with that entire Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole area up there, when I was a child I referred to it as 'our hole' since Jackson was my family name--lol! You are most fortunate, to be able to live in such a beautiful area of the country. Smiler

Unfortunately, East Texas here is a LONG way off...but I can still dream. Wink

Jeane: Did you visit Jackson alot as a child? I do love it here. Quiet Land of Erin (#10 on my cd) is a beautiful song. I believe it is a reference to actually being able to see Ireland from the western Isles of Scotland, probably Islay. (my Scottish heritage is from there)Thanks for buying a CD. As for being "too Old" to get back into music. Nonsense! You're never too old, dust off that instrument or voice and get back at it.
Would love to know what kind of music you 'used to' perform. Ciao
Judith
