Hi Folks,

Five years ago a friend of mine introduced me one of Loreena´s albums (unfortunately I can´t remember the title) and I felt in love immediately. I started to expire the mystical world of Loreena´s music and finally joined my first concert last year in Wiesbaden (Germany) . The whole atmosphere touched my soul, but at this time I didn’t know that I this was just another start to deepen my experience. So now I´m here…looking for someone who wants to join a “real” travel. But more about that later: another topic, another thread ;-)
Apart from Loreena McKennitt I enjoy listening to folk music ( e.g. during my irish set dance courses), world music, heavy metal and gothic.

Oh well, some more information about myself:
I´m 26 years old and living in Frankfurt a.M. / Germany. Currently I´m working as office clerk. But this job is labored and boring, so I´m planning to disengage myself by to begin the studies of ethnologies coming autumn. The spirit of this theme is enrooted with me, because even my father was sailor during his youth, my mother is working as ayurveda therapist. So as you might suggest, Loreena´s music expresses my whish to build bridges between past and present cultures.

Furthermore I´m interested in conservation, so I volunteer my leisure to work in a zoo. I love to straggle in nature, visiting castles and medieval markets and not at least I´m burning to discover my “longing country” : Morocco.

But now: enough about me! I´m excited about the exchange with other Loreena McKennitt fans.

Warm Regards
~ Firnament

Hello Firnament!
Welcome to the MB. do you remember any of the songs that were on the first LM album you heard? I might be able to tell you which one it was. Is that the only album you have heard, or have you heard more of her music since then...well, obviously you heard some at the concert you went to (let me guess: she started with The Mystic's Dream, and finished with Cymbeline, right?Big GrinRazzer)...but "have you heard any more of her recorded music", is what I really meant.

Welcome Firmament! I'm not sure what an ethnologist does, but good luck with it. Which zoo do you volunteer at and what do you do? Sounds interesting. I used to live in Germany for a few years and it's definitely a great place for castle hopping. Have you heard of Blackmore's Night? They do a lot of concerts at castles and they're touring Germany this summer. Wish I could go.

Hi Firnament,

a warm welcome from "a little bit" older German fan of Loreena's music. I think, Loreena is an encouraging example for following one's own way, deep interests and dreams, trusting one's own creativity.

In this sense best wishes
Dieter

Hello Firnament

Nice to "meet" you. Smiler

Sounds interesting that you might start studying ethnology. With 80 mio. germans you must have many different ethnic people.

Anyway, a warm welcome here at the MB.

Greetings
