I didn't catch it last time, so before I forget I'd better play the game.

It would be so sad if...
...music were forbidden.

About the writing on amazon.
I must admit I actually grinned a bit of the comments. This person surely must have had a very bad day.

When I hear some of the garbage coming out of people's cars when I'm in traffic and what I see on TV, I'm not surprised. I'm sure some of these comments are coming from people who think gansta (k)rap is the second coming of Sinatra. And, don't forget there are people who loathe themselves because they're basically failures in life and are projecting on someone who succeeded. Judging from her fan base, record and concert sales, those people are in the tiny minority so I wouldn't worry much about it. Loreena is one of the folks who is keeping society civilized. Be glad you're one who can appreciate her intellectually as well as emotionally.

I found them on Amazon I'll post a link to the ones I hate most...

Also Loreenya I agree entirely if Loreena were to pass from this earthly realm I would be devistated. I would cry for days... Frowner But I feel that she has a great purpose and will not pass on until she has completed her journey...

These are quite terrible so you've been warned

from Amazon.com

The Book of Secrets

The two best songs on the album are The Mummer's Dance and Marco Polo. As for the rest... To be kind, I'd say she's better when she speaks to the music rather than actually sings. Almost the entire album is whining pseudo-Centic twaddle.
Most of the reviews point out how McKennitt spreads out from the Celtic roots and embraces other styles on this album. Other than Marco Polo, not really.

After a while it becomes music to slit your wrists to.

If you are looking for relaxing celtic music, this is definitely NOT the CD. McKennitt's incesant whiny singing is best comparable to the scratchy old record players of the early 1900's. The songs, especially highwayman, carry on for simply too long without any significant variation. By the time you've listened to it but a second time, it's already pounding against your eardrum over and over and over and over and over. Of special note though, if you are in desparate need of a christmas gift for that one particular inlaw that drives you crazy, get him/her this CD and rest assured it will induce at least one headache before it is tossed out!

The Mask and Mirror

McKennitt's pseudo-intellectual garbage is best left in the hands of rpg cultists and people who run off into the woods and pretend to by robin hood. I've heard better singing on the part of wolf howls on those silly nature symphony CD's that are all over the display counters at the nearest discount store. Don't waste your time or money.

Theres just nothing like coming home to do some work and hearing the sound of annoying irish music eminating from my roomates stereo. This music truly makes me sick to my stomach. There is just something in McKennett's voice that seems to cause nausea, and possibly intestinal bleeding. I urge anyone who considers buying this to spend the next 2-3 months locked in a room with something by a real musicial in the stereo.

I will not post anymore because well there aren't many about five or six per album out of the hundreds of very positive reviews but, I think the problem with these people is that they don't like the music and they give their opinion in such a harsh way it's not actually a reveiw it's just a bashing of someone they dislike... I wonder what music they find wonderful?

Loreena's music is anything but what those angry people have to say...

I love you Loreena!

I have never met anyone who had any negative reprocussions from Loreena's music.
LMF, it is sad especially because we are influenced greatly by her music and I think the Sufi saying from The Book of Secrets fits in perfectly, to put shortly, "there are 2 kinds of people, 1 kind who listens with their soul (that's us) and the kind who listens with their mind." Unfortunately not everyone sees eye-to-eye on any point of view, but that is what makes us individuals. I wish those who don't care for Loreena would be polite about it.
I understand your need to vent about this,I do indeed. There are more bands and singers that I'd prefere NOT to hear then, the ones I do listen to, but when you LOVE Loreena, what more could you want?
Loreenya, you said exactly what I fear the most and I can't find it in me to type it, I won't. I remind myself that she takes great care of herself and is in great shape and makes many more albums before her time ends.
My turn: I would be so sad if I became deaf and I no longer could her Loreena singing to me. I decided long ago that I'd prefere to go blind than deaf because of how Loreena brightens my world.
May we all be safe,
Gina

This is a great topic you've come up with, Loreenamckennittfan. I don't doubt what you said because it's true about some people not liking Ms. McKennitt's music. Some may complain that it's too lengthy and that the songs are depressing. Actually, buddy, I love the words and music in some of the songs she has written herself.
Okay, my turn on this game.
I would be so sad if...I found out that Ms. McKennitt had passed away. Oh, that would break my heart severely if our favorite Canadian singer had left this world and gone off to meet her Maker. But I can assure you, God knows what's best for Loreena and He is taking good care of her. --Loreenya
