Thank you miklamar for bringing the name of ms. McKennitt's band. those who haven't read it can find it in the thread Greatest Live DVD ever !!! under Nights From The Alhambra
I know it is a name given them by ms. McKennitt. I remember reading it somewhere. And I've searched everywhere to find out what I read they where called!
Could someone please explain in other words what idle means? I looked it up in my dictionary, and it came up with several meanings in danish.
Thank you very much

Thank you for that interpretation. It sounds likely too. Especially because she do call her band The Idling Porsches

If you ever get the opportunity to stand beside a Porsche or similar powerful sports car whilst the engine in idle mode, you are in for an experience. The motor sounds like it is purring or humming along, full of potential unreleased power. One tap of the excellerater of the beast within the engine is released and the Porsche roars into action with the sound of thunder.
Such it is with Loreena's band: full of latent energy ready to blast into motion.

I have searched for an explanation of this nice name Loreena gave her fabulous musicians; I have looked for it over and over in so many articles, interviews and concert reviews...but nothing. I am sure I read it somewhere not long ago, but I can't find it again anymore.
I know that idle means lazy, that is you have skills to do things that you should do, but you don't.

Once when I was up late and was VERY tired, I decided to watch the Alhambra dvd. In one of the songs in the beginning the focus is first at Loreena, seeing her face from the side ("profil" in Swedish) and then the focus is on Brian Hughes. And when I saw their faces from the side in that way, I realized they've got some big noses! So I named them:
Loreena and her Big-nose band!!!
Hahaha! (oh, I'm so tired...please take no offence of this post...hahaha...)
