If there was one musical instrument you would like to play (if you don't play one already) which musical instrument would it be?
I wouldn't mind learning how to play the Hurdy Gurdy. I don't know how complicated that instrument is but it does look incredibly complex.
I recently went to the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and took a look at their Musical Instrument Collection. There were harpsichords, lutes, clarinets, guitars, harps and one instrument that look just like the Hurdy Gurdy. But it was given a different name. One of which I can't remember. But it was really wonderful to learn the history of some of these historic and ancient instruments. It gave me more insight on how they were created and therefore increased my appreciation for them.
Currently, I play the classical guitar a little (My Dad taught me) and I just recently took up....the harp! I have a soft spot for string instruments.
So which instrument would it be for you? Also, if there is an instrument you currently play, what is it?
Happy Music Making!

My instruments are strings, wish to make and play not good a or as much but is with me always. When first heard of LM I was mis-informed as to her foundation of her music. As i researched and see is not so mauch as a religious statement but to travel in to history and see and hope all history will never repeat I all again. To the early Moorish battles and crusdaer with sadness and powers of great events that were on the rise. Where my strings seem to want to play. The mellow reflection of days gone by. Not a as i wa told was to a relgious pagent. Those who mis-infromed me about LM music sent me on a way forlorn journey where I neede not to venture. Now, LM music is more understandable , after her e-interview a while back. Not so confusing knowing the whole truth, and being able to stand the truth.

I was just thinking. We had some of us on this line of messages mention drums. So now I bring up instruments of percussion. At one point I played the cowbell and tambourine. I didn't realize you could get great sounds out of the tambourine. There are different ways to play it as well. You can play the little symbols, as if you were playing finger cymbals. You can shake the instrument in like trembling motion and get a good rebounding sound. It's great. Later I want to share with you about finger cymbals.

I recently went to a concert a couple of weeks ago with a good friend of mine. The group was called Celtic Women. I have never seen or heard of them before, but they were magnificient. But who really blew me away was the fiddler, Máiréad Nesbitt. If you are not familiar with this group, the fiddler Máiréad twirls, dances at the same time, while she is playing and for what sounds like complicated compositions. She is extraordinary to watch. The fiddle, what an instrument that can make you feel like dancing or make you feel like crying.

That's exactly what I meant by writing: Hopefully nothing's wrong with your ears
And you're right Lizjul about that you are the worst to criticize yourself.

I already knew my voice sucks, known all my life I have no talent, still searching for something I am good at besides cleaning and laundry...That's why I LOVE Loreena so much, she is gifted with everything she touches. Also I am amazed with all the musical fans Loreena has and those who can play her music, blows me away.

Yes I do agree. For example my voice would send people crazy to the point they'd end up in the nut house! I let Loreena sing for me.

Right now I'm playing electro guitar, I can't say I've mastered it but I'm pretty good and I can do improvisation (sometimes missing some notes or ryhmes, but I hope more time practicing will fix it) but I always dreamed of playing a harp or sitar. In the other hand, there's always this feeling inside me saying that when I'll save the money I need and have time to practice I'll be so old, so my little quest for now is organ. I believe you must be good at something beside cleaning laundry... What about your writing?
