Hello, everybody. I know you, folks, are busy and stuff, but I want you to close your eyes for a minute and imagine this: "You are at home, minding your own business and suddenly you hear that Ms. McKennitt is coming to visit you at your house."
Now, here's the question: "What would do you with Ms. McKennitt if she came to your house?"

Actually, since the idea was first mentioned, I've been sitting by the door like a faithful old dog who has been left in by himself, waiting for the door bell to ring. Sadly, too stupid to realise it never will. Roll Eyes

I'll have to make do with the music.

If Lorena came to my house. .I'd be totally embarassed at the mess. . kick myself a thousand times for not knowing every lyric and riff for every song she has ever performed, and do my best to not say stupid things and stumble over myself.

Then I'd offer a glass of Glen Fiddigh, toast her health and success, an introduction to my cats, and then offer to show her the lovely city of Charlotte, NC..

She'd probably find me to be a bit boring, eccentric, eclectic, opinionated, and occasionally witty. If she left with a favorable impression, I'd be amazed.

SmilerHi all,

very interressting question.

Like the others, i'll be very very surprised Eeker and it'll be a great pleasure and honor to have her visit.
We'll drink a cup of tea(jasmin , cannamon, orange), we'll talk, and talk and talk and after i'll see to her my librairy and she'll take all books that she'll want.
And it will be a beautiful day and beautiful dream!!!

Wow, Gina, this is interesting. I thought Ms. McKennitt was a vegatarian, as someone on this forum mentioned, but you know something, a little meat and fish doesn't hurt, after all, she does need a little protein. I suggest tofu or meatless chili with beans. Besides, I may eat meat, but I am a pescatarian. You know, Gina, I agree. I believe you should ask Ms. McKennitt what she wants to eat. Whoa! I am getting hungry.

Not wanting to stray from the original topic of this title, I did notice how somehow food has figured in, so I'd like to share a small experience.

When I had the opportunity to meet Loreena at the November signing at Archambault's store in Montreal, the subject of food was brought up between us. I had mentioned that I was a vegetarian, and she then seriously looked at me and said, "Oh but you must eat some protein also" (to moreorless paraphrase her, as she seemed concerned about this).

I then mentioned, "Well, I do eat eggs", and she smiled in agreement, and Mark was not far and said, "Well, that's good too", nodding his head along with Loreena, and then I went on further to mention, "And I also eat chicken....and fish", and Loreena nodded even more, and Mark said, "Well, there you go!"... and suddenly I was struck with the impression that I had the same trait unfolding when I had first met her, where I had given her a small gift which for some reason my printer went a bit ballistic on me and several copies got printed out, so, I figured, "Oh well, give her all the copies", and so when we met first time, I explained about the printer and I said,

"Well, you can put one copy in your office.... ", and Loreena was close by smiling, and then I said, "..and you can bring another copy home with you ".... and Loreena smiled more, and then I said, "...and you can give another copy to your mother... you know.."...and by that time both Loreena and Mark were laughing....

...So, the incident of the food being brought up reminded me of how I tend to include one alternative after another... which for some reason struck me funny afterwards... first the eggs...and then the chicken... and then the fish... much the same as the office, the home and her mother...

So, I can only deduct that Loreena, indeed, does believe in healthy full course meals.... and yes, protein is very essential, as it maintains all our muscles, especially the heart, which is a muscle by itself. We need protein if we're going to exercise regularly. Just veggies alone, won't cut it. So, please forgive me if I can't believe that Loreena is strictly a vegetarian. Wink

You're absolutely right, Shan-Lyn, and I believe Ms. McKennitt was right, too, about what she said. Also, everybody in this forum is talking about pouring glasses of wine or liquor. Shouldn't Ms. McKennitt have a Labbatt or some type of Canadian beer? Gee, I wish I can invite her to dinner. Maybe Ms. McKennitt and I can have some seafood scampi or seafood pasta in marinara sauce. Yum! (Pardon me, I am not too advanced at the culinary arts.)

I'd pour her a glass of her favorite libation, of course. I'm sure I'd have it in my liquor cabinet. Cool

Loreena took smoked salmon with her on her train ride across Siberia, then generously gave it to another passenger. I met a Canadian who used to serve Loreena blacked chicken while she wrote her songs in his restaurant. So I assumed, I should never assume.
Vegetarians eat fish and poultry some of the times. Vegans do not consume any animal flesh at all. You should check your blood type to see if you are able to eat wheat.
But I should change the story and ask her what she would like before prepairing the meal.
May you never hunger,
Gina

After a great big hug I would love to just sit down with her and have a long, nice chat about everything between heaven and earth; see what we might have in common, or don't agree about at all.

I would try once more to teach her how to pronounce my stupid name (although she made a very nice try in London Smiler) and I would take her along and show her the beautiful scenery of Jämtland, treat her to some cloudberry (Ugh, but she might like it.).

Something like (confused mumbling noises) I think you're lovely I think your music is lovely, I think, I think I, I, I.......

Will you marry me :/

DUH

Then I would, awkward and embarrased, put the kettle on for a nice cup of tea. Then she'd start to make fun of MY red hair, it doesn't look quite so pretty on a bloke.

But then I wouldn't have heard the door bell because her music was on !!

I can just imagine...
Someone is at the door, of course I don't know who it is. I simply lag about to open it. I look out the small diamond window a little more than halfway up the door, and what do I see? A shock of red hair simply blowing in the gentle breeze.
"I don't know anyone with red hair." I say quietly.
I nervously open the door, and who is standing there in a long dark almost black, blue coat?
Loreena.
My heart leaps and I can't breath, I almost faint but I don't. I just begin to ramble and chatter aimlessly...
"Loreena McKennitt is at my door, I can't believe it. What are you doing here, don't you have to be at a concert? I love you and your music your so amazing..."
After she calms me down. I ask if she would like something to drink and I make a delicous cider of apple's, cinnamon, and oranges. (it's currently very wintery where I live)
We then sit in my living room discussing the world, religion, her travels, our favorite folktales and myths...
The day ends with my drawing her fire place-lit portrait as twilight settles into the dark of night.

Now I'm sad that it will never happen... Frowner
