Haha, I logged in on my emailaccount as usual and saw the mail from QR. "Subject: Konsertföreställningen Nights from the Alhambra..." Hahaha, I just sat there, staring at the screen and wondered what was wrong for a while... Man, was I surprised to getting an email from WR in SWEDISH?! I feel all warm inside, almost like a christmas gift that they've decided to send it in Sw and Germany. I'd love to know how many will watch it in Sweden! Me, I borrow my stepfather's dvd (I hav got one too, but his dvd is signed by LMK ) when I want to watch it, but I will most probably watch it on tv anyway.
En välsignat God Jul i Jesu namn! (Merry christmas, everybody!) Malin

We're reading about the middle ages, from the literature's point of view. We get brief presentings on some great authors, Boccacchio, Petrarka, Dante, Villon etc. It's just "Learn their dates of birth and the name of their biggest pieces", so I feel proud to have gone to the library and borrowed the books by own free will The fact that I've heard that Loreena has read Divina commedia didn't have an impact on me at all. *Whistle*
I don't know about ancient Swedish authors. There are probably no one known to all of the world, like the Italian ones for example. But we had wikings and rune stones
love Malin

Originally posted by freesoul: Thanks for answering me. In Sweden the choice of songs has been different from that made in Germany. The dvd was cut but not so much, as some of her speeches were aired, for instance her words introducing Dante's Prayer. No encores also in Germany, the video ended soon after Never-ending Road. In Germany 3sat, the channel which broadcast Loreena, was dedicated to concerts all the day long, so that the programme was called "Thementag" (Theme day, I think).
The songs chosen were:
The Mystic's Dream, The Mummers' Dance, Penelope's Song, Marco Polo, The Bonny Swans, Dante's Prayer, Caravanserai, Santiago, All Souls Night, The Old Ways, Never-ending Road.
Perhaps would you have preferred German track listings?

Yes, the German track list seemed a little better than the Swedish one. At least they showed "Dante's prayer". The funny thing is, that there was plenty of time afterwards before the next show would begin...
Aaah, why is it so hard to chose between her songs? Each and everyone of them is a piece of art (Malin; the girl who very rarely uses the "skip"-button )
About "Dante's prayer".. I have just recently learned more about Dante in school (first year at the gymnasium, or "lycée", I don't know what's the English word right now). I find it very interesting, and I think I want to read his work, Divina Commedia.
yours sincerely, Malin

Well, I guess it was an hour, yes. Why didn't they send the whole? No program came after it, not until about three o'clock, I think. They had cut the dvd very much, these songs where NOT included:
-The stolen child - The bonny swans - The Old ways - She moved through the fair - Dante's prayer - The lady of Shalott - Huron Beltane Fire dance - Cymbeline My favourites >.< I also believe that only the half of Caravanserai was sent The encores where cut away as you see, they cut where she picked up some flowers from the stage..

The concert "Nights from the Alhambra" was broadcast also by German TV, yesterday December 31. What a wonderful manner to end this year! I have the satellite and can watch almost every German channel, so when I got the email informing me of this appearance on tv, I was really very, very happy. It was a real treat.
