When I listen to any Loreena song I feel enchanted - it's like listening to a Mermaid or Fairy, some magical, powerful, good-willing creature that you've suddenly met in flesh (well...in flesh MORE), not just as words of fables and beatiful stories. I fail to feel boredom (part of enchant is constant ability to be surprised) no matter how many times I've listened to some song (my fauvorite from An Ancient Muze is Under A Phygian Sky).
I wonder if moderators agree for a thread about psychoactive plants and Loreena music. No juicy details no other illegal activity - motivation: Loreenas' music is highly spiritual at times and can be a base for a true, full mystical experience (not only esthetic one) if used with some of the psychoactive plants (see Erowid.org for more information about generating of religious experiences using plants). I wonder if anyone would like to discuss such things. What environment (asaid from plants and drugs, let's skip that for a moment - if moderators agree, we can continue) do you prefer for immersing yourself in the waves of faerie light and compassion that emanate off the music we all love? I, personally, bought an iPod HiFi only just so it will be possible for me to hear every single little touch of any used instrument or a scrap of Loreenas' word :-} Milk and kisses...
Within Temptation will release their new album "The Unforgiving" in March 2011 - and their amazingly beautiful and expressive first single "Where Is The Edge" was already released with a couple of pieces from "Me & Mr. Jones" movie event. The CD single and the music video for the song will be released next month, in January 2011 of course. The band alreayd filmed the music video and they also announced The Unforgiving's official tour on their official website - but due to the good news of Sharon & Robert's third child coming on this world next year, the official tour of The Unforgiving CD was postponed with a couple of months later than planned initial. And here is a short tale of a funny experience it happened to me: as you all might know now, I am currently living in Austria and I do still do not really own Internet Connection over there. However, I was already aware of their upcoming concert in Vienna @ Arena venue in March 2011 and as soon as I returned to Vienna back in September 2010, I immediately went to check out that particular venue and bought my ticket for the show. As I really did want to keep a ticket to my Within Temptation collection as a precious memory, I decided myself to go and buy another ticket of the same show later on in November current year or beginning of December (it might have been a reliving moments of those unique emotions of mine when the dream of my life became true and I participated to Within Temptation's Romanian first concert back in June 2007 's episode when I had the same intention of buying two tickets just to make sure I shall keep one to my Within Temptation's collection intactly). The shop assistant checked out for the available tickets and asked me whether I shall buy tickets for their performance @ Arena venue or the Gasometer @ venue ( ...still in Vienna) on October 2011. I then hereby to go for the second option (...just to go and enjoy the wonderful moments of Within Temptation's concerts as much as possible) but without Internet's touch, I had no idea the Gasometer event is organized as the already planned Arena show was postpone due the amazingly beautiful news of Sharon and Robert's third child I initially thought these are going to simply be two different Within Temptation's performances in Vienna and I bought the ticket in the end. Therefore, it might have been a real coincidence but the tale of my dream becoming an unbelievable reality seemed to repeat itself. I can't wait for 2011 to embrace all of us at once!
- Skadar Entertainment presents: Within Temptation's official performance @ Arena venue Vienna ( Austria ) March 2011 ticket postponed - Within Temptation's official performance in Vienna ( Austria ) October 2011 ticket. I have a warm reminiscences with the Within Temptation's performance @ Gasometer venue I remember they were playing there back in the warm summer of 2005, the same day I was finding myself there in a brief visit to my family. Unfortunately, I was not really informed in the right time about their performance back then, I could not really do some magic tricks to make a ticket to appear all of a sudden. But I am glad I received this really great opportunity to finally see my dream in real.

That's a bit sad news. I'm anxious 2 hear if the drummer makes the sound different...
When Nightwish got a new singer, I was sad. Tara was exceptional! She still is, but that band was special with her. Don't get me wrong. The new songs are good. But they somehow miss that undescripable touch of Tara's voice.

Here's a couple of news as respects Within Temptation meanwhile - and I firstly really wanted to speak about Stephen Van Haestregt’s leaving from our lovely band Within Temptation (Just in case there are still fans or people who did not get in touch with this news before, I shall post Within Temptation’s official message as respects this situation:
quote:
GOODBYE
We are sorry to announce that Stephen and Within Temptation will go their separate ways after the upcoming theatre tour. It isn't easy to say goodbye after all we've been through together. In this period of time many dreams have become reality for all of us and exceeded our highest expectations. Through the good and bad it has created a bond; we've had a wedding, a funeral and have seen each others kids being born and growing-up. Everything passed in a flash and we are looking back on it with a smile.
We would like to thank him and Veroniek for all the great moments, passion and devotion. We wish you the best for the future! You can still see Stephen on stage with the upcoming theatre tour and in the future with his band 'My Favorite Scar'. If you are curious check their site www.myfavoritescar.com or their Myspace site. Stephen has written a personal message for you which you can find in the link beneath this one.
Within Temptation
-----------
Dear all, This may come as a surprise, but after ten great years the time has come for me and Within Temptation to go our separate ways.
WT was an unstoppable train. I remember well the time that I got involved with WT as a Studio Technician. Mother Earth marked the beginning of a successful era. I couldn't have imagined that I would be their drummer in two years time. WT developed from an underground band to Holland's best selling musical export product. A childhood dream came true: I toured over 40 countries, shared the same stage with heroes like Iron Maiden, Metallica and Rammstein and performed in a sold out Ahoy with the Metropole Orchestra. In short, it's been an incredible time. The things we experienced will stay with me forever.
But on April 29 in Antwerp, Belgium, I'll be on stage with WT for the last time.
From the start of our sabbatical year (end of 2008) I started producing, recording and mixing other bands again. I found a great working spot at the Swamp Studio in Raamsdonk (NL). Very close to where I live, so I can spend more time with my family. As a musician, you have not seen the last of me though! On the contrary. As some of you may have read in our fan magazine a while ago, I have been involved with another project for quite a while now, "My Favorite Scar". In this band I feel right at home, musically as well as personally. I believe this band is at the beginning of a bright future, yet all depends on the support of the fans, as always. Hopefully you'll love and support My Favorite Scar as much as you do Within Temptation! In July 2010 My Favorite Scar will release its debut album. In March 2010 we will release our first single "Waste", as a free download and we'll be starting a Dutch tour in March too. We will be playing as many Dutch and foreign shows as we possibly can. Hopefully I'll see you guys again somewhere at a festival or a clubshow!
I've always found it hard to say goodbye and this time it's no different. I've enjoyed a great time with our crew and the band. So thanks to Debbie, Pim, Guus, Bennie, Arwin, Marco, Rob, Guido, Rene, Paul and all other crew members who worked with us in the past, Raymond, Martijn, Iris and everyone at AT, Sharon, Robert, Jeroen, Ruud and my roommate Martijn and last but not least, the fans all over the world. Thank you all for an unforgettable time. Hopefully our paths will cross again soon.
When I firstly read thew news myself ( back at the time it freshly has been posted around the Internet's world ), I rather prefered to shut down my computer and started to bittery cry for a while - but it was in the very following moments when I knew deep within my heart Stephen will always remain an important wonderful chapter of Within Temptation (as well as it happens with the other ex. members of the band in the past) and we, the fans and listeners, have to completely respect his decision. I would like to transmit Stephen in a kindly and loving way all the best wishes to Stephen ( I just shall continue and follow My Favourite Scar and go to rock myself at some of their great shows and I'll be waiting impatiently until the moment of MFS's album of course ) and thank him in a particular way for his personal contribution in our Within Temptation family and make this heart of mine the happiest on this universe possible in the moment the ( Within Temptation ) dream of my life became a beautiful reality; ( For Stephen: you absolutely have to promise us you'll be there at every single Within Temptation upcoming fanclub days though!) Hehe…
Last but not definitely NOT least, I'm really looking forward to getting know Within Temptation's new member, the talented drummer who will join us in this never ending brightful and lovely story until the end of time and even more and good luck – we are all very exciting about this upcoming (possible concept?) album – it will be a wonderful surprise again.
And there is also good news as respects The Silent Force fanclub's day - as you might already know, the last year's edition was not able to be sustained as the band had to stay in the studio and completely focusing on their upcoming album but this year's edition will be as great as for both the last and current years at a place - here's the official announcement as respects it and diverse details such as the location for example.
"Dear fans, As you might (or might not) already know, our annual fanclub day will be on October 10, 2010. It will take place at the Waerdse Tempel in Heerhugowaard (NL), and tickets are on sale now! Check out www.thesilentforce.com for all the information you might need and ticket outlets. We hope to see you there, we're already working on very cool things!! Cheers, WT"

I finally did add the album and a special limited 1000 items "An Acoustic Night At The Theatre" LPs to my own Within Temptation collection. "An Acoustic Night At The Theatre" is an amazingly beautiful acoustic album and each song off it is absolutely superb ! I'm already very happy for the new Within Temptation's album news. It is going to be release somewhere between the summer-autumn period of 2010. Very curios and hopeful about a possible new collaboration of the band on any of the songs off the upcoming album with artists such as Gea Gijsbertsen, Keith Caputo, George Oosthoek Chris Jones, Loreena Mckennitt and many others on the list. I know deep within myself I shall see Within Temptation with their new album's tour opportunity. My dream will become a wonderful reality again !

Indeed. Robin Aiden is a really beautiful child and I'm so happy for Sharon, Robert and Eva Luna.
I finally could listen Utopia in premiere on a Dutch radio and it's absolutely beautiful. Now I can't wait to see the premiere of the new Within Temptation's video "Utopia" this monday.

I absolutely adore Within Temptation and I've got an enormous WT collection through years and years. All their songs are absolutely superb and Sharon Janny Den Adel's voice is so beautiful. I also did see and meet them at the Romanian metal festival @ ArtMania back in June 2007. It was the day when my dream became a reality.
I'm really looking forward to buying and listening their both upcoming releases: an acoustic album "An Night At The Theatre" and a new single "Utopia" which is going to be a featuring with Chris Jones. "Utopia" is also going to be on the acoustic album's tracklist as well.
I also can't wait to be released their new album somewhere in the beginning of 2010 hopefully, as Sharon stated in an interview before.

I've know Theatre of Tragedy only as a name. Suggestions are welcome... P.S. Although i do like Within Temptation, i believe they're very close to Nightwish...
I disagree - Tarya Tururen from Nightwish has a operatic vocals, she sing with very different ewocation - also, the lyrics of Nightwish and the music are much darker and harder, more direct - Within Temptation tend to be ironic, complicated, full of hidden meanings while Nightwish simply sing it out aloud and clear. I'm not trying to generalize to all the songs of course, it's just my impression as I'm a fan of both (though WT is more to my liking lately, maybe it's because of Loreena and her influence - some switches changed values in the part of my brain that enjoys music resulting in me wanting more playful or sorrowfull subversion off songs). Milk and kisses...

Here in Greece, most of the people who like Loreena listen to rock, metal and their "children". I'd really like to know what other rock/metal/goth/etc bands you people here like! I'll send my own list in the next days. P.S: I like Nightwish more than Within Temptation. 'Moondance' my favourite, though instrumental. Kisses
I was actually going to write a program to help find such connections between bands a while ago, for my personal use - the problem that stopped me (but I'm not giving up! :-} .A.) is that music is not only words, but also melody, rhytm and various other languages layered one after another that make it such a power medium for communicating complex emotions and meaning - and I know much to little about music to write module of routines enabling me to preprocess a song after song to form some matrix of random variables to present to my complex system of sever types of neural networks (or some other device of similar makeup) - to tell if it is similar to a "semantic-semiotic" network that all the songs of a band form and on a higher level, assign it to a meganetwork of bands that I like or would like to listen to. At the moment all I can do is analyze text and manually assign few variables by assuming their value from the genre - "Gothic Rock" for example or "Medieval Folk". I can tell you that at the moment my iPod list of popular songs (called, The Wheel, after the Tarot card) contains such bands as: Within Temptation, The Corrs, Sarah Brightman, Incubus Sukkubus, Sheryl Crow, Hey, Suzanne Vega, Loreena McKennitt, Alanis Morisette, Catatonia, Ladytron, Alizee, Nightwish, Emiliana Torrini, Belinda Carlistie, Bjork, Janis Joplin, Garbage, Closterkeller, Blackmore's Night, Medieval Babes, Heart, Liv Kristine, Dead Can Dance, Clannad, No Doubt, The Cardigans, Xandria, Jocelyn Pook, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Leave's Eyes, Eva Cassidy, Lux Occulta, Artrosis, Chandeen, Theathe of Tragedy, ABBA and that is not all I listen to - it's just a smart playlist that shows what I'm listening to lately :-}} .A. {{-:. As you can see there are a lot of uplifting-type melodies here as I'm depressed lately and have to fight it somehow. I hope it's just a seasonal depression and I won't have to turn to harder solutions, like medications (side-effects...).
Hello, Anna, first of all, I have to say I love Greek, I have a Greek classmate called Mariana and sometimes she makes us some "demonstrations" of her language, I love it, it sounds like Spanish but the funny thing is that we don't understand a word! Yes, I know about the song Moondance, I think it is different from the other ones by Nightwish. My favourite one is "Ghost love score", both instrumental and album versions. I also like Blackmore's Night and W.Temptation as goth bands, and before I became a fan of that music, I was and still am a fan of soft/adult rock and pop music, with artists like Richard Marx and Michael Bolton, I call it "commercial good music". I've listened to Xandria, whom I've known through a member of this forum (Galaxy girl) and it's interesting, too. But Loreena...her music is so special, it's different, I think one of many reasons is because there is a spiritual influence in it. I'm so glad that here there are people whom I can share my tastes in music, great to talk to you. Hugs!
