I was 27 years old when I first heard Loreena McKennitt. I was at a friends home and we were painting pottery, when I heard the song Bonny Swans. I have never heard anything so DEEP! In terms of the vocals. It gave me goosebumps.

Hello Anxious 2, Thank You for your Heart Felt words, they too make me feel warm as Loreena's music always does and touches my Soul on such Profound Levels. Often, I feel so special to have these experiences of music and sharing with others and one thing I have greatly come to realise is, that, it really does take such "Special" Souls to really appreciate her Talent and Gifts", it really does, and for that, I 'am and always will be Grateful !!
Blessings to each and everyone of you, Hayley

I'm a fairly new fan. I was watching pbs and "Nights from the Alhambra" was on. I was not feeling well, everything in my life was very sad. I didn't think I could enjoy a concert and almost changed the channel. She had my attention from the first note. I sat there amazed that I felt happy for a whole hour! Sometimes things just come your way at the right time. ~Kate
I was guided some 15 or so years ago, and her music is a daily way of living for me. It Enriches my Spirit, my Soul and Well Being. As I sit here and listen to "Breaking the Silence, I felt compelled to start sharing in the Community. I have put in just a bit of my beginning experience of how arrived at it.
" I first heard her music from two friends some years ago. It was shortly after my best friend and some what like my mother to me was murdered. I fell to many pieces and my life was quite destroyed. It brought so much healing to me at a time that I so deeply needed it. Over the course of years, I shared it with others and they too reaped much healing from it as well. However, what little did I know what layed ahead for me in my journey. I had a very powerful Spiritual Awakening on May 22, 1999. That night, I began to feel, to make a long story short, it was like the “Old Ways” for me. I started to paint again after not for 13 years. Your music, was such a catalyst in this Transformation. I started showing oil paintings professionally and selling. The profound thing of all was the healing that others were receiving from the art they purchased from me. Seeing, knowing and feeling the difference of healing in their lives that each of these creations brought to them was , I cant put words into it to this day. As I have painted, I only listen to your music, I do not know where I go, as I’am tranced from the notes and sounds of all the instruments and mainly her voice. I painted and painted and painted 168lbs. off my body or as I say, “the layers”. It is from the Power of Creation and her music that have transcended me to this place that I’am at. Not only is this journey of bringing healing for others through us, this journey is healing me to."
There is so much more to this, the emotions as I sit here right now, I get choked up to this very day about it. I only pray that it too, has brought much Transformation into yourselves as you continue on in your Pathway. So many Blessings to each and everyone of You ...
May the Spirit Live through you as it Lives through Me !!!

I was 40 years old. I went to Barnes & Noble in northern CA and asked the sales associate for a recommendation about music. I was tired of my usual music...wanted something different. She asked if I'd ever heard of Loreena McKennitt. No...I hadn't. She suggested "Parallel Dreams" and said (now I shudder to think of it) that if I didn't like it I could return it?!?! It seemed like a money back guarantee so I bought it and WOW!....I was blown away. Needless to say I didn't return it.
Been listening to her ever since. Her music is my "fall back" music. I listen to it often and whenever I'm looking for some music but not quite sure what I want...I go to her music. It satisfies every time.
I was 18 years. A friend very close to me introduced to me Loreena's music, making me listen to The Visit....and needless to say that it was LOVE at first sight...or better hearing , such a huge LOVE that after 11 years I am much, much more in LOVE with her than that time, and I suppose it will be the same still in the future, in so many years, decades, centuries Much Loreena's music to all!!!

I love this discussion because I can see how many people fell in love with Loreena, and still love her music.
I discovered her when I was only a teenager, I don´t remember if I had 16 or 17 years old.
The first song that I listened her music was The Lady of Shalott. First of all, i fell in love with The Lady of Shalott, John William Waterhouse painting, and then, I found out that it was based on a poem from Lord Alfred Tennyson, I read this poem several times and I loved it. After all this, in internet, I saw that a musician, Loreena Mckennitt, put music in this fantastic poem, and I loved it too!!^^
I bought The Book of Secrets, and a few days later, the rest of her CD´s.
Since that day, I listen to her music every day, and I feel really confortable with her music.
It´s really nice to meet people who discovered her when they were only a teenagers, like me, and they still love her music.
Thank you all!!^^

I saw "The Mask and Mirror" and was very intrigued by the woman on the cover with the beautiful tapestry so I clicked it. It offered samples of "The Mystic's Dream" and "Full Circle" I clicked on TMD and fell under some spell that I had never felt about any music. I listened to the sample again and went about my searching on the site for other items... Then I think a few months later it was now 2006 I went back to the site and went to the mask and mirror... anyway one thing led to another and I asked my mother if she would buy it for me from amazon.com When it arrived I immediatly listened to every song and LOVED them all! long story short I discovered Loreena and have as of now heard most of her music and have sadly misplaced The Mask and Mirror or it was stolen which is a possiblity since I took it to school several times to share the goodness with my teachers! I want to save up and buy all of her albums at the same time! I'll stop writing now. (I have to stop abruptly or I never shut up Blessed Be )O(
LMfan, please don't ever shut up! I love reading about how people fell in love with Loreena. She hit me deep in my soul and I am still under that spell you mentioned and I had to buy The Mask and Mirror 3 times because I had misplaced the cd. I had to buy The Visit and The Book of Secrets twice. I bought Live in Paris and Toronto 4 times, once for me and the rest for presents. I'd love to purchase the green scarf she has for sale, but I have to buy gas.... Keep smiling!!! Love, Gina )O(
