I have been trying to find a way to express this exact feeling for too much time, and I could not have said it better myself. Yes indeed, it is like a friend, a companion very close to my heart, has returned, at last, from a very long journey. And every moment with this friend now brings more joy and happiness, after so much longing. Welcome back Loreena.... :*)
I was also a bit disappointed with the packaging, I would have preferred the jewel case or packaging like 'The Book of Secrets' special edition. My very flimsy cardboard case has torn already. Anyway, the music is lovely and I love the CD and the artwork on the cover. I am more than glad that Loreena is again making music - it has been a long wait, but worth it.

I went to 3 local stores (just south of Atlanta), and only Circuit City had copies available. I had to dig around because they weren't in the new releases section, and I found 2 (I wanted 3 - one for me, and 2 for friends). They were on top of the Sarah McLachlan CDs.
That highlighted a growing problem in the retailers around here. It used to be I could go to Circuit City or Best Buy and find Loreena's music (whether called World or New Age). But now? Circuit City had her labeled as Rock. Best Buy still labels it World, but they couldn't find her new CD, even though their computers claimed they had 2 in stock. And like Circuit City, they had none of her older stuff.
I am glad I found the two. Great music, and I'm glad Loreena is still going at it.

I downloaded it this morning from Quinlan Road and have been listening to it since about 7:00am my time here on Canada's west coast. It is remarkable, beautiful, haunting, Loreena at her finest.
I have no words to express how glad I am that Loreena is once again recording and performing.
I feel as though a much beloved friend has returned from a long voyage.
Got it My pre ordered copy never arrived in the post, even though it was posted on the 17th so I shot into town and picked it up from Virgin Some one I know will be getting a CD for Chrissie.......
I've listened to it four or five times now, and it's a joy to my ears.. Stand out tracks to me are:- Caravanserai, Kecharitomene, Phrygian Sky and Never Ending road...
However, I also feel just a very, very, little dissapointed. After all this time between albums, the Lady doesn't seem to have really moved forward, as any of the new album tracks could have been on "Book of Secrets"
It's a superb album that will bring much pleasure to us all,and very pleased am I, after all this time to have it, but I don't feel that, it will take her beyond, her existing highly committed audience......

Thank you Amber-Cottage I saw a copy of An Ancient Muse from a UK seller on eBay, it is a slipcase too. I think a slipcase is much better than only a jewelcase

Really envy you...but I still have to wait, wait and wait...
BTW, could anyone who has got the album tell me if the CD is packaged in a standard jewelcase or in a slipcase like Live in Paris and Toronto? Thank you!

finally back from my weekend off. I've got my copy in my hands. I love the artwork on the cd, it's stunning. I just listened through it while storing away everything and tidying up and kept running back to the living room to catch a few notes, so I cannot give analytic descriptions like Fionnait did. It's great to hear new music by Loreena at last, goes straight in the ear and feels like honey drippin'. So I'll light my fireplace tonight, take a blanket and a cup of tea and dive into it.

Oh, don't be sad! Soon you'll have it too and I promise you that you'll love it.
@Andreas: Go and get it! You won't be disappointed. I hate nothing more than to go into a shop wanting to buy a new CD and then they don't have it. That's why I usually order it. Then again you have to wait for the post...
@Jeanne: I didn't get the CD early at all. The official release date for Germany was 17th Oct. Usually when you order a CD at amazon you receive it on the release date (at least in my experience). And the sound clips don't do the music justice anyway...
@Robert: You colleague is right. Never-Ending Road is truly beautiful. And it can be interpreted in so many ways that everybody is bound to find his/her own feelings in it.
