Visit of the Alhambra

Hi everyone,

I'm just back from a trip to Granada, Spain, where I visited the fortress of Alhambra. This journey was inspired by Loreena's wonderful Alhambra-DVD.I can fully confirm what Loreena said about this monument - infinite beauty, subtle poetry chiseled into stone ... Lucky Spanish friends to have such a jewel in their country and lucky fans who visited the Loreena's concert!

Greetings
Dieter

I've never heard of Washington Irving, but I'm going to look for this books.
My friend has recently discovered in an antique shop a children's book by the German author Kirsten Boie (sure you've heard of her), called Alhambra. It's about a boy who travels back in time and finds himself in the Alhambra palace of the middle ages. Sounds pretty exciting, I can't wait to get it!

Liebe Grüße,
Anni

Hi Anni,

I've just started to read "Alhambra" from Kirsten Boie. The book looks very beautiful ...

Herzliche Grüsse
Dieter

I'm listening to an audio book at the moment, "The Constant Princess" by Philippa Gregory, which is about Catherine of Aragon (first of the sic wives of Henry VII, for those who don#t know her), and there was the most beautiful description of the Alhambra palace. I must get the printed version and share this passage with you.

Cheers, Anni

Hi Anni,

the Alhambra is worth a visit, really. But it is advisible to do this in springtime or autumn,
otherwise it is extremely hot, 35-40 degrees!
It would be nice to have a look at the description you told about. Do you know the the American author Washington Irving? He Has written a wonderful and famous book about his stay for several weeks in the Alhambra. His book has essantially caused the rediscovery of the Alhambra as one of the most important monuments of the world. It's also translated in German.

Warm greetings
Dieter
