To Quinlan Road: I have thought of this some time ago and I thought for Ms. McKennitt's next album if Ms. McKennitt could do a rendition of a spiritual like "Go Down Moses" (which I think would be good for Her Ladyship to perform) or working on a piece that has African-American or black influences. Thank you for your time and God bless. --Loreenya

Another piece that she would do really well on is called "The Green Fields of France." I heard it on the plane ride home from Ireland (more on the trip later...), the performance was by a group called The High Kings, from their album Memory Lane. But a word of warning...I'm generally not emotional when it comes to songs, but by the end of this piece, literally my entire face was wet from tears! But it's based on an actual (and world-changing) event: The Great War (WWI). Anyhow, it's another suggestion. I think the song's emotion and range would really suit her voice.

Maybe Loreena could sing it partly in English and partly in Gaelic. It would be awesome. There is one other song: Stor, A Stor, A Ghra. I heard a group called Altan sing it. Here is the link. http://www.actionext.com/names...r_a_stor_a_ghra.html
Oh Loreena hear our prayer

I laughed when you said "and doesn't start swearing or anything. Yes indeed
You know I heard this wonderful traditional Irish song "Oro Se Do Bheatha Bhaile (Long Life To You On Your Homecoming). It's really quite beautiful. Course, the song is done in Gaelic. And I think it may require many voices. Course that can be re-arranged to for a single voice. I found a link for the lyrics http://www.celtic-lyrics.com/f...c&code=lyrics&id=585

As long as she keeps to her own style, and doesn't start swearing or anything, then yes, of course! I'd love her to pull out some more traditional Irish stuff, though...haven't heard much of that from her since she recorded The Bonny Swans sixteen years ago! That's not including the stuff on A Midwinter Night's Dream, obviously...

You know Loreenya this would be an interesting piece for Loreena McKennitt to sing. Even as it is an African-American spiritual, the song is sort of universal. For those who are interested in the Gospel-and that could be anyone, it would be glorious to her voice singing this song. She could also sing a different version of it, by adding her own "musical heritage", if you will. Course as fans, I think I'm right in saying we will listen to any music she makes. Yes?

Yes, that would be very interesting, Loreenya. She's taken inpiration for her music from pretty much every other region in the Eurasian/North African supercontinent.
You may be interested in a post I made entitled 'Marco Polo'. oh wait, maybe you have already found it? I think I remember reading your reply.

Yes I meant high. It was just a bad choice of word...

Or did you mean her voice is too high as in the vocal range of her singing soprano?
I personally believe Loreena could sing almost anything the way she is able to alterate her voice which she does quite often actually.

Could be interesting... But I think her voice is too light. Or maybe it's just I who think of a very dark negro with a very low voice singing "Sixteen Tons"...
