I think it could be fun to hear what kind of music you are listening to, beside Loreena McKennitt?
I might as well start...
Björk Cyndi Lauper Within Temptation Nightwish Peter Gabriel Kate Bush Savourna Stevenson Blue Foundation Brian Adams Barbra Streisand Maggie Reilly Alan Stivell Lis Sørensen Tyfoon Dolly Parton ...

Now that Christmas is come and gone, I have taken most of the overtly Christmas-y songs off my iPod. I still have the winter carols on (Sleigh Ride, Snow, Seeds of Love, the usuals.) I've also discovered a new (to me) group: Banshee in the Kitchen. I am currently addicted to their song called "Late Winter Waltz." SOOO pretty! Out of curiosity, for those who have Christmas in the summer, do you have any favorites for the season?

Better late than never! Happy New Years everyone! I walk often and have my mp3 player loaded with plenty of music. I am now partial to Celtic music, so it is the main component of my sections. Besides Ms. McKennitt's music, and in no particular order, I listen to: Nightwish Secret Garden (Sleepsong is my fav) Rowena Taheny (Kilkelly Ireland- awesome!) Hayley Westenra Kate Price Deanta Altan Capercailie Some Celtic Woman Connie Dover Christy Moore Blackmore's Knight Pink Floyd Jethro Tull (Elizabethan Rock!) Linda Ronstadt plus many of the classic rock bands. I am sure that I have left afew out...but these are my favs. Of course, Loreena tops my list.
Most recently I've been hooked on Florence and the Machine. Florence has a really powerful, soaring voice that goes all over the place with an ease that that shows she was born to sing. And the songwriting is great with creative lyrics, catchy hooks, strong percussion, and a seriousness to them. No pop fluff here. This is music you can be proud to listen to. Their first album "Lungs" was good but they've topped themselves with their latest "Ceremonials". Do yourself a favor and check them out.

I've been re-discovering a lot of old favourites. Country music (Toby Keith, Clint Black, Garth Brooks), Hawaiian (Israel Kamakawiwo'ole), Paul Simon, Frank Sinatra, and a bunch of other's I'm forgetting.
