Stellamara - You must check them out, think of Loreena's song Kecharitomene, but a more Balkan version - that's the kind of music they make, and it's gorgeous

Enya
Moya Brennan
Ulrich Schnauss
Celtic Woman
Schiller

And loads more Big Grin

This has been interesting. Seeing the music other people listen to. I am in the Nashville area and the group ALABAMA live where I do so you might expect country music for me but Loreena shares my CD players with Celtic Woman (Lisa, Mairead, Orla, Chloe and Meav), Hayley Westenra, Enya, Deirdre Shannon and maybe the Dixie Chicks and Sugarland. I have to admit I prefer female singers.

Hi, this is a good question. Apart from Loreena McKennitt, i listen to rock music mainly as it is the music i got into first as a kid. But my tastes are varied as i think it's important to give musical creations "a try". Lately i've been listening to old favourites:

Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin...
Cinderella (do you remember them? i'm a huge fan who collects their music *blushes*)

A band named Naked Beggars (with the bass player of Cinderella). It's a great rock'n'roll band. You can hear some of their tunes at their myspace pages: http://www.myspace.com/nakedbeggars and http://www.myspace.com/officialnakedbeggars

I hope you don't mind me doing this little promotion on here Red Face, but i try to help promote their music, like i do for Loreena on other forums or in conversations.

Another band i love is Tapping The Vein (http://www.myspace.com/tappingthevein). They are a dark rock band, with a touch of goth, electro and a great vocalist.

Paradise Lost
Lisa Gerrard
Dead Can Dance
Sigur Ros
Noa
Joni Mitchell
Traditional songs and tunes from chivalry, troubadours and religious chants from the Antiquity to the Middle Ages

Oooh the list could go on, i don't want to bother you with it. Hopefully we will share some good musical "findings" amongst us Smiler.

Well, I'm a speaker builder, and I would describe myself as being a listener in the same sense that we would describe Loreena as being a musician, so most of the music in my player is highly demanding of a speaker system and/or exquisitely instrumentally or vocally complex. My current favorites, aside from Loreena, are:

Azam Ali (Solo or with Vas or Niyaz)
J.S Bach performed by E. Power Biggs
Bela Fleck & The Flecktones
Blues Traveler
The Cranberries
Dead Can Dance
Dream Theater
Enya
Indigo Girls
Jaco Pastorius
Jewel
Ladysmith Black Mambazo
Marcus Miller
Norah Jones
Robert Rich
Sade
Sarah McLachlan
Scott Harlan
Tori Amos
Velvet Hammer
Victor Wooten

I'm still desperately longing to hear a duet with Loreena and Azam Ali. If you're not familiar with her, make a point of becoming so!
