Hi Maria How nice to see you on the board again! I have noticed we have similar music tastes, my favourites also are: of course Loreena M. at first place and Pink Floyd, Dire Straits , REM. I would also add my Polish favourite: Marek Grechuta. He performed in public from 70s to 90s. Lyrics is very important part of his songs. The text, the music and his interpretation create the masterpiece You can find some of his songs in Youtube:
I wonder, if you like such kind of music. Kindest regards Jolanta
Hey Jolanta Thanks for sharing the sampling of Marek Grechuta"s music,.. His voice is lovely, very peaceful and calming..And offers a taste of your polish language..(which I'm becoming aquainted with thru patient guidance ) I can see why it would be a favourite...his performing venues are beautiful. Haven't been checking the board very often..But it is good news that Loreena is touring Europe! I'm anxious to experience another live concert.
I listen mainly to loreena enya or celtic woman. But I also listen to the pagan goth band Inkubus Sukkubus. Also any other goth band like evanesence or within temptation, but for the most part it's only loreena or traditional celtic music.

just my "always in motion" list of artists and/or bands (in no order at all; perhaps a little alphabetically):
Sarah Brightman - also a woman with a "voice of her own"; a very diverse genre from classic to pop
Kate Bush - only from the early period when she was in her early 20's
Dead Can Dance / Lisa Gerrard - no words to describe this kind of music; you need to hear it
Dire Straits / Mark Knopfler - in the past not really appreciated by me, but more and more one of the bands/artist with a big incluence in today's music
Earth, Wind & Fire - THE band which started my muscial interest around '77 (All 'n All)
Enya - also enchanting music; often mentioned in one word with Loreena, but onetheless quite different
Japan / David Sylvian - talking about a strange voice ... but nice to listen to !! An "anti"-voice (meaning that a lot of people say that this man can't sing at all)
Jean Michel Jarre - he who likes electronic music needs to listen to JMJ !!
Joe Jackson - a great musician with odd lyrics
Katie Melua - just so young, but a very nice voice !!
Natalie Merchant - a coincidence to meet this singer/songwriter
George Michael - in the past a teen-idol, but a very professional musician and singer
The Alan Parsons Project - a combination of intrumental music and nice lyrics - very rich and lots of horns
The Petshop Boys - you love them or you hate them; nice UK-pop music
Pink Floyd - also a late discovery from my side
Ryuichi Sakamoto - nice alternative (pop)music with japanese influence
Sting - again an "anti"-voice with great music
Tears for Fears - the new beatles (sort of)
Andreas Vollenweider - if you like the music of Loreena then you should like his music too
Vangelis - strange electronic music ...
Losts of music of the Windham Hill records lable.
Of course this list is far off of being complete, but onetheless a list of artists/bads that I tend to play regularly.
I have read many artist here, that I didn't mention. But I did write "I could go on and on"
Some of you have put on comments to, why and/or how you got this music.
I think I will do the same...
Cyndi Lauper - Within Temptation - was listening to LM on youtube some day, and accidently tripped on this band Tyfoon - My mothers cusin and her band Nightwish - my youngest sister has a friend who listens to this, and my sis got addicted... and then I heard it and well, I too got addicted Peter Gabriel and Poul Simon - my fathers favourites Kate Bush - hmm... (just love her childish voice) Maggie Reilly - heard a song (To France) long ago but didn't know who sang it, then at a party I heard it and found the cover... Savourna Stevenson and Alan Stivell - borrowed some CDs from a friends friend, and then I got to keep them. He didn't need them anymore (so I saved the money for having to buy them myself ) Blue Foundation - through my sisters Bryan Adams - my friend who is a huge fan of him (sorry for spelling "Bryan" wrong earlier!) Barbra Streisand - don't remember (but a fantastic singer!) Björk - simply amaced by the combination of music from different countries, and her ability to repeat certain phrases and to stop them just in the moment they start to anoy you. Sissel Kyrkjebø - my very first artist on CD (I have been told, that my voice very much is alike hers)
Please feel free to do the same if you'd like...
Many hums
Anxious

Nickleback and Coldplay! <3 Coldplay gave a concert in Santiago, Chile, last year. A friend and I went crazy and tried to raise enough money to buy the tickets for the concert, the plane tickets (cause we needed to fly there) and find a place to stay. We were so so close, but in the end we both couldn't go (I was working at a zoo then and was deeply involved in a project with racoons, I just couldn't leave, and my friend just didn't raise enough money.)

Before I heard Loreena's music I used to say that I listened to "everything and nothing". Then I found my musical home, but of course some things remain.
The Swedish outtake for the Eurovision song contest has produced a lot of crazy, horrible, absolutely great and unforgettable songs. Sometimes I take the dvd "Melodifestivalen 50 år" (50 years of the Melody festival) with all those classics and watch and listen to it for hours.
Ted Gärdestad - swedish 70's singer. Passed away in 1997. Listen to him when I feel a little down or sad. A mix of happy, carefree pop and deep serious thoughts upon life.
Gregorian Chants - bought the cd at a second hand for approx. half a dollar. I felt a little inspired by Loreena when she used chants in some of her songs. Sounds great, but I only listen to it when I write.
Roger Pontare - another Swede, who has adapted the "old sound" with epic lyrics.
The Chieftains - such merry music! I love to play it in the background. It creates a warm atmosphere. Love living music.
Nordman - a special guy...Swede... he uses the Swedish folklore for his songs and combines the folk-sound, with the nyckelharps and such, with modern pop/rock.
To often I stumble upon singers or bands that made one or two good songs, and then nothing more (this is in my oppinion, of course). Here are some:
Bonnie Tyler Lizette Pålsson The Clannads Abba ( ) The Proclaimers Rufus Wainwright Carola (häggkvist) Tenacious D + many more Swedish singers, and general folk (from Great Britain) and world music.
And so on, and so on... I'll think of a thousand more when I get away form the computer... Haha..
Good night! Malin
