Hello everybody! We all know Loreena supports Amnesty International www.amnesty.org (see the 'notes from the road' section), and as it says in the website of AI, governments are cracking down on freedom of expression in internet. You can sign the request of 'freedom of expression in internet' of AI here: http://irrepressible.info/ Best,

I signed it as soon as I saw your post the day I came 5 minutes on the forum 2 weeks ago and I sent the link to many friends because, we soon need it in France: our "wonderful" new president preparing a decree which has been written during the election campaign (like this nobody saw it) against the liberty on the web and oblige the french internet providers to give all the informations about someone (name, address, even password!, visited web sites' list, items bought, payment means used and more) to autorities if it asked!!! We could think that it is against terrorism or pedophile networks but it's about a law about confidence on numerical economy (but of course, everything -like political position- can be noticed and everyone can be "listed")...
Nice isn't it!...
PS: I'm very surprised and disapointed that your topic has been watched only 35 times! We could hope that on a forum about someone -how do we say in english? engaged? involved?- like Loreena, people could care more... But let's say that 35 is better thant nothing...
Iréne! Good to see you posting again! So, how are you doing, you "terrorist"? (Ok, don't get in a huff, people - I KNOW the Elf is not a terrorist, but her government might decide to label her as one...as mine might do with me just because I hold Liberal political views. The "Patriot Act".) You are not alone in feeling betrayed by your own government.
I'm signing the petition as soon as I can.

I love peace, freedom and democracy, but I will not support Amnesty International in any way until they call ETA "a terrorist group" instead of "an armed group" (democratic armies and polices are armed groups as well).
We Spaniards have been suffering ETA terror for 40 years ,and they are still killing us, just because they don´t accept democracy.
Greetings and, please, call things by their true name.
Thanks Manel for letting us know about this. I, like Very Old Elf, signed up immediately and am a supporter of Amnesty International along with the Eurythmics whose last tour a few years back had a reunion tour to support AI and Greenpeace. It would be nice for more people to stand against government opression, repression, and depression and this is one small way to support that effert. If only the governments in all countries understood that "a great leader follows his/her people; because he/she does not contest his/her people, they will not contest the leader." It's as close as I can get to the orginal quote from the wisdom of the Tao. Peace be with you, Gina
