What about Remix of Loreena's some songs. For example i can imagine "All Souls Night Remix" and "Mummers’ Dance Remix". If you were a talented DJ and remixer and were able to use those complicated music programs which song(s) of Loreena you would remix?

Hi Jesse When you write about The Old Ways I came to think about ms. McKs own remix on the Nights from the Alhambra-CD. I love the way she increases the tempo when singing the verses and then goes back to the tempo in which the song started.

I'd remix The Old Ways. you know how it has that fast bit at the start, but then slows down for most of the singing, and only speeds up once the singing is finishing? well I'd keep the fast bit going for the whole song...even just to see what it sounds like!

I'm sorry. I wrote that Celine Dions version was very near to Roy Orbinsons. I only meant vocaly - the notes sung.
Unlike Roy Orbinsons and Cyndi Laupers versions I feel that the new version by Celine Dion has a lack of soul. It's too dance-/partyminded. But that's just my oppinion...

I have a very good example on the thing Urumelili writes March 12, 2007:

Take the song I Drove All Night
The first version I heard of this was Cyndi Lauper singing. And I fell in love at once. Then many years later Celine Dion gave us her version. Yaeeks. She almost ruined the song! To hear this serious song turned into saccharine rubbish tores my ears!
That's when I discovered that it wasn't made by C. Lauper, but Roy Orbinson. I hurried to Youtube and found his version - the original (I hope!) C. Dions version is pretty close to this.
I still think C. Lauper has given us the best version. And I can't compete with myself wether it's because it was the first version I heard or she siply just is fantastic.

One more question: Was that you who played Loreena's rendering of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" on the midsummer's night in July? Be well and happy my friend, Gina
Merhaba Gina;
Yes, I have noticed your excitement; you can not sit on anywhere can you? You have been walking around non stop, last night i even heard your heartbeats in Istanbul; i am not doctor but i think you have palpitation and extrasistol.
Yes, i like very much "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" but so far i have not play anything for Loreena, but after 10 years i will take my place among the Loreena's team, i will play "NEY" in her orchestra. This is my dream...
I don't know any song similar to "Marco Polo" I will say some tribal rythmic songs to you but later OK?
Greetings From Yavuz THE Player To Gina THE Recorder :]]]]]

And if you like a bit Shania...check the Mutt Lange remix and the dance remix of "If you're not in it for love...", also her album Up! is my favourite, an incredible one...there's a moment for every music! Best,
Hello Yavuz! First of all, I'm glad to know Loreena is going to your country for doing several concerts, congratulations! And thank you for your musical recomendations, I'll check them , Deep Forest is a very famous group but I've heard very few things, let's see how these remixes are, take care!!!

Her producer is her husband, "Mutt" Lange (who's also been the producer of AC/DC, Bryan Adams, The cars...), both them write together, produce and put their voices into the records like Loreena does, and, even though their music could be called "commercial", I think it is wonderful and of a very high quality. All the best,

Hi Again Manel;
I like the names you wrote above; Bryan Adams-Everything I Do, Shania Twain-Ka-Ching, The Cars-Drive. I will check new remix songs of Shania Twain.
Now i am giving bad examples; i don't like following remixes, first one is very slow, original "Sweet Lulluby" is much better than them for me.
1) Deep Forest-Sweet Lulluby-Ambient Mix. 2) Deep Forest-Sweet Lulluby-Apollo Mix. 3) Paul Oakenfold-Dead Can Dance-The Host of Seraphim-Trance Mix.
Check the following (funny) Turkish remixer guy and say your thoughts. His name is Koray. He lives in Duseldorf-Germany. Just check this song:

I am fine, i hope you are fine there either. You have pointed important thing out; some remixers think that EVERY faster version will be good, but this is big fault of them, because they kill the essences of the songs. Some faster remixes are nice but some are not.
I will give an example: "Paul Oakenfold-Dead Can Dance-The Host of Seraphim-Trance Mix" This remix is completely different than original song. I want to know what did remixer of it think before remix that D.C.Dance song.
Do they have right to completely change the original songs? Lets suppose that some people don't know that song and first listened to remix of it (before listen to orginal song) in that case most of them may think wrong things about the song.
