Back on the message board again! I've been missing you all.
On the 10th of July me and my stepfather went to the concert in Stuttgart. We didn't know what kind of place we were looking for since we had never been to Killensberg. But eventually, with some help from more Loreena-fans that we met on our way, we got to this lovely park in the middle of this big city. It was like an oasis there. Shortly after that we discovered that the concert actually would be held outdoors. The weather was beautiful (one of the few sunny days of our vacation in the south of Germany...) so we were very lucky!
When I think back I remember very clearly the people that had come for show. I felt like coming home. People use to call me odd, and there were a lot of odd people there (absolutely NO offence, then). A mad collection of anar...no, fans. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood.
A glimpse of Loreena when she came to the park by a certain entrance, then a little wait before she came out on the stage. She was better than ever, and I was once again reminded of why I love her music so much. The set of musicians was slightly different from the last time, and fewer too, but they made a great performance. My favourite this evening was, of course, The highwayman. (If you were there: I was the one that did a loud cheer when they started playing it.)
Loreena spoke sometimes between the songs as usual, and she always seems to know what to say to make people laugh. She is probably a professional by now, but she still can make one feel that she is talking to each and one, like friends. She shared her talents of the German language ("Never speak to much and too loud", was it not?) and in the intermission she talked, and she sat calmly by the harp and began by saying: "I'll tell you about my life". Don't know why that made me laugh so hard...
And no concert-evening would be complete if Loreena didn't say: "I discovered that the Celts were much more than this mad collection of anarcists..."
It was a great night, the weather was great, Loreena was great. Life's beautiful. to complete this too-long message, I would like to put in a verse from an LMK song, from Parallel (probably misspelt)(Probably wrong)(uh) dreams.
When the moon on a cloud cast night hung above the tree tops' height You sang me of some distant past that made my heart beat strong and fast now I know I'm home at last.

I LOVE FANTASY!!! please make sure you publish it one day, I would love to read it. what songs go with each part? you'll have to give us a list (who knows? maybe Loreena will see this post and she'll think "hmm I'd like to read this book, and encourage my favourite Swedish fan...I think I'll release an album with those songs on it ).
my avatar picture? HAHAHA...does the tv show Doctor Who screen on Swedish television? My avatar picture is of a Dalek, who you should be familiar with if you watch Dr Who.

Winter is approaching. This morning I went jogging, and at my route there is a part which is shadowed by the trees of the forests, so the sun can not reach there before sometime at the afternoon. I almost slipped on the ice. Hahaha...
The album which Loreena signed for me is "The book of secrets". My tongue slipped a little, so it says: Malein, instead of Malin. Find the wrong? I said "i" as it is pronounced in Swedish. Tralala lala, *whistle* She was very patient with me, sweet Loreena.

why thankyou! what story is that?"
It would be a very long post if I were to explain everything, but it is a story that I started writing some time ago. It would be categorised as fantasy (there is, like, a song for every part of it, and many of them are Loreena's...) but mainly, it is a story about finding out who you are deep inside and where you belong, and about love.
Oh, another thing...since I was listening to LMK's Parallel dreams as I wrote the first stumbling words, one of the characters came to be named Annachie Stormbird. I wonder how many times I've caught myself with writing "Annachie Gord..."
Big dreams...
BTW, Jesse - what's on your avatar picture? I can not see what it is

You are welcome in Svealand, weary traveller. I had to do a small research, and I found out that i live a little south of the "circle". In the middle of the winter, which lasts for at least a half year, we have approx. six hours of daylight, perhaps a little less. Before ten in the morning and after four o'clock it is pitch black outside, the sky is lit by millions of shining stars. Since I have not lived in the north of Sweden for more than four years, I still get slightly depressed by the darkness sometimes.
that's sounds incredible! I guess it would take some getting used to, but I love the stars! I can't wait to come and visit!

Hi Malin!!! How great to read your message, and no dear, it is not too long. I love reading other people's experiences of places they have been and how much fun they have at one of Loreena's concerts. "The set of musicians was slightly different from the last time, and fewer too, but they made a great performance. My favourite this evening was, of course, The highwayman. (If you were there: I was the one that did a loud cheer when they started playing it.)" You know, I thought I heard something! It's great to have you back! Bright Blessings, Gina

Hi Malin! I've recently borrowed Live in Paris and Toronto from my school library, and bought Nights from the Alhambra...both live albums, of course, but it's not the same! what songs did Loreena sing in Stuttgart? I'm glad you had a good time...I presume you drove down to Germany seeing as you took your enourmous caravan?
Yes, I did walk on the Great Wall...that was also an amazing experience...although not as amazing as seeing our favourite singer perform live, I'll bet (I just had an idea...Loreena, have you ever considered a concert on the Great Wall? )
is Föllinge north of the artic circle? it must be getting onto winter now up there...how much daylight do you get in the winter? I suppose all those wide-streched forests would be made up of pine trees wouldn't they? do you like Loreena's instrumental Ancient Pines?
as I said before, I'd love to go to Sweden...maybe I'll come and stay with you, and we can listen to Loreena McKennitt all day! (how many of her albums do you have?)
Life in Australia...hmm...well that's a difficult question; as life in Australia is normal for me, so I can hardly compare it to life anywhere else (except maybe China?). I live in Tasmania, which is the southernmost state of Australia, so it's not as hot as mainland Australia is reported to the rest of the world to be, however, even though the weather doesn't get very hot or very cold, it can vary to either end of the scale unpredictably, especially in the winter...as we say in Tassie: "If you don't like the weather, wait ten minutes!"
I'm not sure if it's different in Swedish, but in English we normally spell "cangaroos" with a "K". if I do see any kangaroos some time soon, I will say hi, although I doubt they'd know who you are...or even understand me

Hello Jesse!! I hope you will get to see Loreena live sometime! It is an amazing experience. I and my family stayed at the camping with our caravan (seven persons, you should see our caravan. It is enormous, haha) in Bad Urach for three weeks - rain, rain, rain; the night of the concert was one of the very few beautiful nights, but we had a good time
Did you walk on the Chinese wall??
Föllinge is in Jämtland, a part of Sweden which is pretty far north. Jämtland has the most beautiful and varied landscape in all of Sweden (and that is not only my personal oppinion). Think mountains and wide-stretched forests and blue lakes. And long and cold winters.
So what is life like in Australia? (Is it not called 'the country down under' or something like that? ) Say hello to the cangaroos for me! Haha...

Hi Malin, I am really very happy that you have had another chance to see Loreena in concert. I was sad that she didn't have any plans to come to you in Sweden ... Good choice to go, you to her! Loreena's concerts are experiences we can't miss; about myself, I would feel so a striking sense of guilt, if I didn't go to her!! Nice to have you with us again after so many days of silence. Kiss....
