The legend...he was 94 and still playing. What a life. Think I'll pull my Les Paul out of it's case and polish it up when I get home...

Thanks friend. Smiler

I can understand why people are upset about Michael Jackson for reasons like the fact he was only 50 years of age (he would be 51 now), he had three young children who are now without their dominant adult figure, and he was a household name...but people keep going on about how he was the most influential musician of all time when the number of individual genres he actually influenced was far less than the number Les Paul had an affect on. More diversity has come out of what Les Paul has done in his life than what Michael Jackson has done. Jackson might have been the king of pop but that by no means makes him the king of music altogether.

That is if you can call Michael Jackson a "dominant adult figure"...

Here's a little guitar trivia connected with Les Paul for you. Les was known as an inventor as well as a player, indeed, he invented the multi-track recording process, indespensible today. There was a contemporary of Les' who invented possibly the most amazing effects device after the electric guitar. The Echoplex was invented by Mike Battle, who passed last April 2008 at the age of 90. There are electronic echo/delay devices out there aplenty, but the old tube tape loop Echoplex still rocks. I have an ancient one and replacement tubes are expensive. However, a vintage Les Paul standard (or a ES-225 single P90 and Les Paul trapeeze bridge...Google it...hell, I'll do it for ya: http://www.rocknrollvintage.co...n-ES225-Sunburst.jpg) played through a tube Fender Twin Reverb with the reverb pegged at 10 and an Echoplex in the middle produces the most dramatic, "deep in the cave" tones you can imagine. Les Paul and Mike Battle...two old guys who gave us some real fun toys...

He was a remarkable man....

I toured the Andrew Jackson estate last year...in Nashville,Tn. 'The Hemitage' he called it.' Said he was be a hermit there after serving his time. What a beautiful place. Hundreds of acres. Years back a tornado came through and took out some of Mr. Jacksons favorite line of trees.

The timber from those trees was taken to Gibson Guitar in Nashville and they built Les Paul Guitars from it. They are gorgeuos. They have this Gold inlay that swirls through them. I have photos on my cell, but not sure I can get them on here, for you musicians.

If you get to Nashville, take in this tour....

God bless his spirit........

Be well.....Live wise.....
