Loreena’s Nights from the Alhambra, has been nominated for a 2008 Juno Award for Music DVD of the Year.

Recorded live in September 2006 in a spectacular 1300s Spanish castle, Nights from the Alhambra was first aired as a live in-concert television special on PBS. In August 2007, the performance was released as a 139-minute DVD with two companion audio CDs, featuring some of Loreena’s best-loved songs, including “The Mummers’ Dance”, “Caravanserai”, “The Mystic’s Dream” and “The Lady Of Shalott”.

“It’s a tremendous honour to be nominated for this award, although the credit needs to be shared with many people,” says Loreena. “Making a music DVD is an enormous undertaking and on behalf of all those who played a part I’d like to say thank you for this recognition.”

Also nominated in the same category were Billy Talent for 666 Live, Cowboy Junkies for Trinity Revisited, Danny Michel for Danny Michel & The Black Tornados, and Jesse Cook’s One Night at the Metropolis.

The Junos, Canada’s premier annual music award, will be presented at a gala celebration Sunday April 6, 2008 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada hosted by comedian Russell Peters and televised on CTV.

Loreena’s other recordings, The Visit and The Mask And Mirror, both won Juno Awards, in 1992 and 1994 respectively.

Kudos and congrats Loreena! Aye, it's a good year for manifestation. This is the DVD you signed for me when we last met.

And to think that I was thinking "Juno" just two weeks ago, along with the Grammy.

It's fantastic to get this kind of news. I've watched the DVD five times and whenever I watch it, it moves me. Never found another DVD concert of that level and beauty. It's really so important Nights from The Alhambra receives a public recognition and an award it absolutely deserves.

The best concert in a perfect open air venue with the stars as witness, even the clouds ran away. I didn't notice about the cold till the end.
