Music is like food and wine. It touches people in different ways. Speaking personally An Ancient Muse is the finest work I have ever heard. I dont think there is a weak point in the whole album. I particularly like Beneath a Phyrigian Sky; both the words and the music are sublime and transport me to another realm whenever I hear it. I would be interested in other peoples views about the album.

Too bad about not getting the Grammy, but I think just getting nominated is still pretty good recognition. I wonder if the voters actually listen to all the works or do they sometimes rely on past reputation? Actually, I think Angelique Kidjo might have an edge in that regard, at least as far as the world music scene goes. Not that I have anything against Angelique, I'm sure she's quite good.

Not to be negative about that ms. McK... didn't win the grammy (I would as much as you, have wanted her to have it).
I believe it to be an honor just being nominated! Congratulations on that ms. McKennitt!
And who knows... maybe it is a releif not to receive it, if you haven't got space apon the fireplace any more, or wherever ms. McK... places these physical appriciations.

I can't say I'm surprised because African is probably more 'world' to them. But I can say without the slightest hesitation that having seen both Kidjo and Loreena perform live last year, (Kidjo opened for Josh Groban.) that Loreena should have won!

Angelique Kidjo won the Grammy, with her album "Dijn Dijn". Peter Gabriel also collaborated on her album with the song "Salala", so at least Loreena and Angelique have Peter Gabriel in common. I kind of had a hunch the vote would go for Kidjo's album, but I kept quiet until now so I didn't come off as blasphemous.
For anyone who hasn't listened to it, "Dijn Dijn" is a great album. I highly recommend it.
