I love living with that frame of mind of the Natives. We do need to respect our Mother Earth and all her creatures because as Cheif Sealth once told the U.S. government:
"If we spit upon the ground, we spit upon ourselves. We did not weave the web of life; we are merely a strand in the web. What we do to the web, we do to ourselves, this we know."
Matriarchal societies around the world once lived respectfully and as one with the earth, it is time that we live every day as EARTH DAY. What we take from our Mother, we must give back and not take more then needed and don't take from our neighbors. Then the rivers will run with fish filled to the brim and with enough trees uncut there will be plenty of fresh air and little pollution will reduce the amount of children with asthema.
What happened to those values?

Earth shouldn't be taken for granted.

I come to think of the indians way of living . That there is a soul in every thing that grows.
I like that perspective.
It is so much harder to be cruel, when you believe the one/the thing you are being cruel to has a soul, and therefor a living creature.

How can anything grow without being alive?
Onless of course you are a chemist, and by mixing some different substances, can make it expand.
On the other hand... Maybe it is alive for those moments it takes it to expand?
Hmm...?
We are all made of substance. And we're alive!
