Another rarity taken from youtube..it also includes a short video of her singing "The Lady Of Shallott"
I presume it is part of a longer interview but that's all for the moment..i think the user will upload the whole interview soon on youtube.
Enjoy!

I'm going to take a stab here and say that Loreena has little jurisdiction over whether those get re-released, and instead is the decision of the CBC or National Film Board of Canada.

I could see where, in reviewing all of the miscellaneous bits and pieces of film appearances, theatre performances and such that made up Loreena's career, the question becomes what is relevant and most appealing to the public. However, I could see a case for a retrospective of a sort much like how NFTA was a retrospective of Loreena's recording career, from 1985 on, a bigger retrospective of Loreena before she got into the music industry to now.
Of course, this could come off a bit too much like an E! True Hollywood Story with interest focusing too much on "before/after of fame" so I could understand why none of the above has happened.

I guess the root of my question still remains - even if all these miscellaneous projects were released, what would keep people from just uploading it for free on places like YouTube? Obviously the public interest is there if the matter is "free" enough, but perhaps not enough to pay for it.

These thoughts seem better relegated to the "Privacy" forum, so I guess I'll end it here.

I watched the clip, and while it again proves why it is I have a love/hate relationship with entities like YouTube, I have to say it is an intriguing snapshot into Loreena's image especially as it was back in 1991. There is a certain openness and innocent quality to the clips I was able to see that in some ways (given the circumstances) we won't quite see manifested in the same ways again. Part of this has to do with the fact that Loreena wasn't as well known back then, and I feel one unfortunate aspect to all the familiarity and measure of notoriety she has now is that she won't ever be quite that open again. I don't mean to write this in a purely cynical sense, but it just "is what it is" 17 years later, given all the life events, a wider audience over the years, and so on. For this reason, I personally would like to see the Visit EPK released through QR or Verve or whatever, legally. This may come up in one of Loreena's chats at a later time, but one of the questions I have been mulling in my mind for some time is how Loreena feels about what has been posted on YouTube, ranging from the illicit camera phone recordings of her at Borders, to blatant recordings of NFTA being placed online, down to rarities, like we've seen above, that most people would never ever see without YouTube. I'm not saying just because people haven't seen it makes it right, but I'm wondering if Loreena/QR have considered what to do to prevent things like this from happening. Also, given the interest in things like the EPK, would they consider re-releasing them?
I know that things like the Visit Words and Music set are limited editions and once they're done, they're done, but doesn't that just feed into the cycle of people illegally putting them up for download?

Now before I get flamed for what I said above, please don't think for a second that I don't appreciate all that Loreena does for us, given the new news about the chats, on top of the book, the possible CD research, the possible touring, etc. I realize that in the ever-finite hours in the day, Loreena packs in a lot, and has remained pretty accessible for us to this day. All I'm saying is that I've noticed something different between 1991 and now, which to me, is the result of living life.

I think exactly the same as you. Many times Loreena "appears" blonde in some pictures and I have often wondered whether she had changed hair colour, but it seemed to me so strange...

I know! My sister was watching it with me and I was like... "Big hair" hahaha. I very much prefer her current hairstyle. I thought she looked lovely tho, and she's so funny! Big Grin

Funny, my sister just came in too and DARED to laugh at lovely LMK's hair, but I love it, love it, love it! She looks adorable in curly hair! How thick her hair was in those days!
I love the videos about The Visit, I feel very inspired.

You are welcome, I wish I could remember more of the trilogy as it was well researched and brilliantly made.
I finally thought of another route we might use to get copies and that is from Donna Reed or the Canadian Film Board. I don't know where she lives or if you can google her name or maybe through Starhawk. She lives in California last I heard. She visits Seattle once in a while, I will keep my eye open.
Starhawk definition of witch is "to change". For example; change your frame of mind, mood, situations for the better.
I am glad to hear that the old tradition is returning to Europe.
Hugs to you too!!!!!!!

Thank you Gina for this brilliant comment about the so called Wise Women, I'm dying to get a copy of these videos, but it's impossible to find any in PAL system (Europe). Now a movement of recuperation of the "old tradition", which is one of the traditional Western shamanisms, is emerging. The trend I've heard most about is called Wicca (which means 'a wise person', it's the name of the priests of the old religion in several areas of Europe), which is very, very interesting, I'm sure a lot of you have heard about it.
Thank you all for posting these incredible videos.
Hugs,
MANEL

I have always wondered how Loreena felt about the Wise Woman Tradition. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
I have watched all three documentaries and know who has a copy of VHS, sadly our relationship had to end. All 3 documentaries where about a time where the common will was to survive and no one was to disrespect life, no matter what form, especially Mother Earth because she could take life as easily as give it. They followed the seasons, they gave when they took, they honored woman because they birthed life just like Mother Earth and they also honored men for what they offered.
They lived in tribes in what was called "Old World Europe" which is now Italy, Greece, Turkey and western parts of the Middle East. Some tribes where small, but some grown to be in the thousands. They were peaceful people, kind and generous. All evidence came from 5 major digs in that area. All the symbolism were feminine. Nothing to suggest war or violence on the artifacts that were found. Life and love was most important to those people and to have that Mother Earth was to be respected so she could continue to give us what we need to have a good life. We still need to be respectful today. Their way of life was much like the Native American here.
Loreena used to sell the trilogy on her old web site and I wish I would have bought them. Maybe we can get her to see if she has any left in her attic and have them put on DVD?
As for her hair; the first thing I thought was how much she reminds me of Nancy Wilson. She looks more like Nancy then Ann does. Just a different facial structure, but Nancy had hair just like that in 1980.
Love, Peace, and Beauty,
Gina

Hey, It was the early 90's lots of us girls had that hair style (Hopefully any photos of me with it are destroyed!)
