Oh, wow! That is so cool! I never see people from different countries, since I live in a small town, but I love looking at ethnic costumes/clothes wherever I may see them.

I am, but I sure can appreciate a handsome man in a kilt! or a dress for that matter! If it suits you, it suits you. And if everybody is happy with what they are wearing, you won't hear a sound from me! (I love my butch bikerboots, colour is camel-like, although they just fit perfectly, didn't really buy them because they are nice.....okay, that's a lie. I adore my new bikerboots bcause they are soooooo nice! Wish a dress would suit me though....not the girlygirl type I guess....) My copy of an ancient muse should be in the mailbox when I get hometonight....I can't wait!!!! Get me home....Get me home......FANTABULOUS!

Oh really Zefiro? No, I haven't got it yet, I thought it would be released tomorrow... Yesterday I went in a mediastore to buy a book and gave a look to the shelves under letter "M"... McCartney, McLachlan, MCKENNITT... but "An Ancient Muse" was not there.

Of course it may seem confusing... but, you know, "suus cuique mos; meus mihi, suus cuique carus" (I'll translate for those who are not so familiar with Latin: "everyone has her/his own habits; mine to me, his/her own to each is dear"). I find it very disappointing that people may be confused when they see a man or a woman wearing eccentric clothes or when they see a cross-dressed (can I say that? I mean, is it English? ) person. What confuses me is all that huge crowd of people dressing in the same way... I wear jeans fairly often, but sometimes I really feel uneasy. Yesterday I got in the subway on my way back home from university and there, in the same carriage where I was, was a beautiful lady (I think she was from central Africa) dressed in her country's typical clothes. What I like is that her music is like an adventure and makes you want to go and explore yourself. Yes, some of the men's clothes in the 1700s were a bit silly, a little too much. But some of the less extreme were quite nice. I meant that in old times men wore costly ornaments like silks and jewells as much as women did, because it signified wealth and prosperity. And you're right, if I were a guy I'd go more for the kilts and capes.
Indeed.... And I love to see men wearing kilts Fedelma...yes everyone should wear whatever they like; it would certainly be less dull. That doesn't mean everybody has to like them. I wouldn't say people laugh because they are confined to contemporary styles; I know a woman who makes her own clothes, some are similar to Loreena's dresses, and she is certainly not wealthy and she always looks gorgeous. Anyway tastes differ...and that's a good thing. Bbut I think we agree Loreena's dresses are beautiful. You know, in the old days in different countries people wore different clotes; some were really beautiful. It's a pity that has gone lost and is now merely folklore.

I disagree. I think that people should wear whatever they like, as contemporary clothes, in my opinion, are more pathetic than any other style one could choose. There's no art, no beauty, no care in the clothes sold today. I was looking at a painting of a woman in a pre-raphealite looking gown, and she was resplendent. People only laugh, I think, because some people can have the confidence to wear beautiful clothing, and mostly people are confined to the contemporary "styles".

Fedelma, I meant it's too bad people in general can't wear clothes like that everyday, and not get laughed at. Starkeeper, another Enya fan!!! Yes, I love her clothes too. Like someone else said, it's too bad one can't wear clothes like that everyday and not get laughed out. I think it's a pity Western men wear such booring clothes. In other cultures, men carry purse-like bags, dress in any colour they want, and wear clothing that involve skirts, embroidery, etc. and it is not thought effiminate at all. I think men can wear clothes that are just as beautiful as women's. Think about the 1700s in France; men wore ribbons, satin, lace, jewels, etc. and still looked quite handsome and dashing.
Hi Grace, Another Enya fan, fantastic.Yes they both have some similarities, not exactly the music, definately what inspire them, the meaning and roots of their music. Indeed, they both wear those wonderful dresses gracefully. No I don't think they wear them day to day,too heavy and I guess they can hardly breath in them. About the men's clothes ... maybe dashing but a bit silly also don't you think... I'm more for the capes and scottish kilts
