I admire her for the fact she has found the strength to get on with her life, despite of this tragic event. I would have given up, honestly.
But about the performence in the Fame Music Store; Loreena wasn't able to finish the song. She couldn't remember the lyrics of the second verse, because the electric piano didn't play very good, according to her. She said "remembering the lyrics come with certain body movements". And when the piano keys don't feel good... well, it all goes wrong. I have had this experience in the past as well when I had to play the Mondshein Sonate on the crappy electric piano at school. I couldn't even put sensitivity in the song... and it sounded so 'empty'. People here who also play the piano will recognize this, I think.
Anyhow, I hope to hear the entire 'Penelope's Song' On March 14, when my and my parents will attend her gig in the Heineken Music Hall. Before that time, I'd have to do with my own verson of Penelope's Song (I'm playing it on the piano now--- I found the chords myself).
God bless you all
Warm wishes Lisette
Thank you very much Lisette for sharing this with us! The comparison Loreena made between herself and Penelope is quite touching; I have thought of that several times, and - you know... I came to the same conclusion as you: I would not resist in case my love died or left me for so many years as Ulysses did with Penelope.
I can understand the reason why she was not able to finish the song: it's true, the sound of an instrument can really affect your performance.
And finally, I found the chords for "Penelope's Song" too... unfortunately, I do NOT have Loreena's voice ...
