Not to spoil those who haven't had the chance to see the Alhambra dvd...
but when she does the jumping thing she is facing the drums (back to audience) and it looked like to me for this jump, she stepped up onto the stage part where the drums were elevated and then kicked off..it was so..well..Cool =D
and like others have said, you could tell with this jump her skirts had many layers, I don't know how she did it without getting tangled.
Hats off to her for that ability hehe

Lets not forget Loreena was a Highland dancer as a child. That jump she does may actually be something she learned as a child. The Sword Dance and The Highland Fling are both quite vigorous. Perhaps someone from Quinlan Road will respond. To 'our dance inquiry' Judith Weikle

Back in April, we who were in Asheville and Nashville were treated to that same trick, with Loreena facing towards Rick both times.
Hehe--I've tried to learn to 'do it', too, and can only conclude that Loreena is quite an exceptional athlete, to manage that move so well in all those voluminous skirts!

Aye Jeanne, on the Montreal concert of 7th, she was facing the audience. And I was totally perplexed. Unlike "Jenn", I couldn't rewind the reel, lol.
Alas, after the Concert and whilst waiting at a red light, I was thinking about this with eyes blinking rapidly, "How did she do this...". The light turned green, and I was still baffled. ;-)
Originally posted by Jenn: If I remember correctly, she's also seen doing this in the Nights from the Alhambra dvd. I couldn't help but grin when I saw it, I had to rewind 3 times just to make sure I wasn't crazy!
Originally posted by Dan: I know the part you're talking about, Shan-lyn. It is a neat effect and I like Loreena's timing on it.
Hi Dan, I'm still practicing by holding onto the kitchen sink. It will take some practice I see.
This little "jumping" has impressed me as definitely one of her trademarks. I'll let you know when I fall on my face whilst I practice. <warm smile and a wink>
