(Good afternoon everyone. QR Community members will be receiving an email in the next hour or two, announcing Summer Festival dates in Canada)
Loreena McKennitt 2009 Canadian Summer Festival Dates
Quinlan Road is happy to announce that, in addition to Loreena's 2009 Mediterranean Tour, Loreena will be performing at Canadian music festivals this summer.
She will be accompanied by an outstanding group of musicians, including Clive Deamer, Simon Edwards, Ben Grossman, Brian Hughes, Caroline Lavelle, Rick Lazar, Jon Pilatzke and Donald Quan.
Please note the above dates are general admission and Loreena will be performing a set of approximately 90 minutes. Her start time in the lineup of artists is also to be confirmed. Please contact the individual festivals directly for more information about the venues, ticket prices and other details.
At this time, there are no other performances planned beyond the 2009 Mediterranean Tour and the 2009 Canadian Summer Festival dates noted above.
Pre-sale tickets and early concert announcements are just two of the benefits of becoming a member of the QR Community. Thanks for the great news. Geulph is fairly convenient, although one of the largest lakes in the world makes it a bit less so. Ottawa isn't out of the question for a driving trip, and it's possible the unannounced date make make a nice combo.
At any rate, chances are very good I'll get to see the show somewhere this summer.
Too bad that Stratis isn't along. Jon Pilattzke should fill in nicely on fiddle. I've seen him a few times with the Chieftains.
I was just thinking that Northwest Airlines hubs in St. Paul / Minneapolis (MSP) and that they also fly into Kitchener Ontario (about ten minutes drive from Guelph) although you would definitely have to make a connection in Detroit (DTW).
Okay one more answer for you, but I really can't say anymore. To answer your question, Guelph would be closer than the fourth (unannounced) city, at a mere 850 miles (1400 km). I admire your dedication.

I should not answer guesses otherwise someone will figure it out by process of elimination, but off the record, it is not Winnipeg. Sorry to disappoint.

Can you tell me if it is closer to Duluth than Guelph?

So I did get it right in the March live chat , when Loreena announced that she would tour Canada in July. She spoke about fall too, but I didn't catch the destination, though. We'll see. However, congratulations to all the Canadians, for the moment!!
