The Manitoba Moose and the Providence Bruins face off during Military Tribute Night Saturday March 7, 2009 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg and Loreena is pleased to launch the game by singing the Canadian national anthem.
The game, which begins at 7:30 p.m. CST, is a tribute to the Canadian Armed Forces and Loreena will be appearing in her role as Honorary Colonel of 435 Transport and Rescue Squadron of Winnipeg.
"I'd like to encourage you to support our military families by coming out to the game and by visiting the various interactive military demonstrations beforehand," says Loreena. "It promises to be a fun evening, as well as an opportunity for you to purchase yellow ribbon items that demonstrate your support. I'm looking forward to representing my squadron at this entertaining and important event."
Tickets for the March 7 game, which range from $18 to $38, are available at the MTS Centre box office, online through Ticketmaster, or by calling 204-669-3333.
The game will also be broadcast live on Winnipeg's CJOB 68 radio.

however, but how much did they speak before Loreena sang? Anyway it is worth waiting, as I had never heard national anthem before and especially Loreena who sang it. Great!
Hi freesoul
Mark wrote the game began at 7.30, so via my link I found the right date (march 7.) and hour (from 7 pm). And then I scrolled half an hour and listened. I found out the game didn't start at 7.30 pm, but at 8 pm. The half hour was pre-talk, who are the players and how, what, where, when and why... (I didn't really listen) 2 minutes to 8 pm Loreena is presentated and begins to sing (= the last 2 min. of the clip. To be precise the time is 58.09!)

But of course. I too sing with another voice when I sing my national hymn.
And I like that it was the combination of the English and the French version, just like I thought it should be. Canada is both. Frenglish! (my new invented word!(hope I'm not offending anyone.))
I listened to the Audio Vault http://www.cjob.com/StationShared/AudioVault.aspx I was almost to switch to 8 pm, but then the speeker said something like "Please welcome ... Loreena McKennitt. (just loved his accent!) And as she sang I had this vision she was doing a salute. Don't know why, and she might not have, but I visioned it...
Over and out!

I imagine it was great to listen to Loreena both on the radio and live in Winnipeg. That night I was still up at about 1:30 a.m. (in Winnipeg 6:30 p.m.), so it means I could have waited for just a further hour to try to catch her via internet, but at 2:00 a.m. I sank into my bed and it would have been so unlikely to manage to get up and switch on the laptop and keep my eyes open . I'll do my best to avoid the same the day of the chat, but I'm not sure I will.
Johna, Loreena can do everything!

Winnipeg radio station CJOB streamed the game on their website. Apparently it was a big event being Military Appreciation Night. O Canada is a difficult song to sing and Loreena nailed it. It was a good game too (I love hockey). They SHOULD have had her sing it for the Montreal Canadians and San Jose Sharks game in Montreal last week, then she would have been on TV across the US and Canada, but I'm not that lucky...

will the game be broadcast on TV as well? I happen to be in Canada at that time and would love to watch Loreena on TV, even if it's just for a tiny performance.
Cheers, Stefan.
