On Saturday December 13, 2008 from noon to 2:00 PM, Loreena will be visiting the McNally Robinson store at Grant Park (
see map ) in Winnipeg to do an in-store signing of her latest CD,
A Midwinter Night's Dream.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated by McNally Robinson to the Winnipeg Military Family Resource Centre, which provides a wide range of supports to military men, women and their families. Since December 2006, Loreena has been the Honorary Colonel of
435 Transport and Rescue Squadron in Winnipeg.
"I'm looking forward to meeting some of my Manitoba friends and supporters," says Loreena. "This new CD presents a perfect opportunity to connect in person during the start of the festive season and for me that's very gratifying – especially when it takes me back to the province in which I was born."
"Additionally during these past two years as Honorary Colonel, I have become increasingly amazed at the number of ways in which the men and women in our military support Canadians, both at home and abroad. I have come to appreciate the depth of devotion and sacrifice required of these men and women, and of their families back home. The Military Family Resource Centre offers invaluable support to all these people and on their behalf I would like to thank McNally Robinson for its generous support. "
A Midwinter Night's Dream was recorded at Peter Gabriel's Real World studio in England prior to Loreena's highly successful 2008 European tour. It features eight new songs alongside five tracks from her 1995 album, A Winter Garden: Five Songs For The Season, all of which have been completely re-mastered.
The CD is full of captivating seasonal surprises, including the exotic Eastern arrangements of "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen," the Latin-sung "Emmanuel" and the North French/African rendering of "Noël Nouvelet!," sung in Old French".
A Midwinter Night's Dream is available as a standalone digipak audio CD and also in a Deluxe Limited Edition gift set. (
