Loreena McKennitt set for major European concert tour this summer
Following the 2007 release of her live concert DVD Nights from the Alhambra, and less than a year after her successful 2007 North American and European tours, Loreena McKennitt is returning to concert halls and outdoor stages in Europe.
The Live in Concert 2008 summer tour will take her to a number of European countries, including Germany, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Spain.
The tour begins June 27 in The Hague, and ends August 3 in Belgium.
“We were thrilled that last year’s European tour was so successful,” she said. “Since so many of our concerts were sold out, we were anxious to come back and visit these territories again, particularly in the summertime when we can perform outdoors and participate in some of the best European music festivals.”
This is her second European tour in two years and she’ll be performing songs that span her recording career, including music from the award-winning recording An Ancient Muse, which has sold more than half a million copies worldwide since its release in November 2006.
She will once again be traveling with a full complement of musicians, many of whom performed with her on tour in 2007.
“The opportunity to perform live before an audience is always a very special and unique experience and one that I cherish deeply,” says McKennitt. “I love meeting the people who come to see us perform and nothing can replace that.”
Tickets for the Live In Concert 2008 tour will be on sale shortly — although sales for two French appearances, including the July 24 appearance at Festival Cornouaille in Quimper are already on sale.
Complete details, including performance dates, venues, ticket sales and prices will be announced through the QR website as they are confirmed.
So great, we (mother, father and son 22 years, yes more generations) have tickets for the Den Haag Concert, row 2 seats 7 and 8 and 16. So good places. Last concert I was not there . But this time I was in front of computer to wait till the presale started. I can not wait, but till than I listen to my mp3 player with all Loreena on it.
Hi Stacy! I Loreena's tour this summer visiting, for a lack of a better phrase, Europe proper? I was wondering whether she was going to go back to Istanbul, or further on to Egypt and Greece?
My family is travelling in that direction this summer and it would be great if we could see Loreena in concert as well.

I'VE GOT TICKETS FOR AMSTERDAM !! 2ND ROW SEATS 18+20 !!! CAN'T WAIT UNTIL IT'S June 30 !! Sorry for all people who can't go, but for me it's great to go. I missed Loreena last year.
It would be great to know if LM gives a concert in Scandinavia? Are those days between 9 and 24 July really reserved only for Italy and Spain? Anyway I hope that all concert dates will be confirmed VERY soon.
