What is that "tower" for? Or is it just decoration?

No, it's "an octagonal Water Tower of 57 m (built in Art Nouveau style in 1911, today functioning as a lookout tower and an exhibition hall") Margaret Island in detail

Dear Anxious,

Thank you very much. Smiler

No, I did not write her poems - to tell the truth, I did, but only one, few years ago -, but we gave her an anthology with the 100 best known Hungarian poems, translated to English.

Wow, what a place!

Now is thundering and lightning here, and I'm thinking of our wet evening - we were really fortunate, because Loreena was able to stop the rain. I imagine the God as hearing Loreena and forgets of everything, breaking off his job and just listen and listen the heavenly music... - Another idea: the Lullaby in stormy weather in Open-Air Stage??? Or the Highwayman? "The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees..." - A shiver is going up my spine...

Fortunately, I happened to watch the concert from the 3rd row, just in front of Loreena. I truly believe that I am not exaggerating when stating that the day of the concert is one of the best experiences I have ever had. Despite the heavy rainfall, an enchanting atmosphere was created in which I felt an unspeakable beauty. Hearing live Ms. McKennitt is something that will never be cleared out of my mind. I only missed one thing, the sound of a kanoun (qanun).
For me, the highlight of the evening was 'The Old Ways' and 'Penelope's Song'.

I would like to thank all the musicians or their support, especially, Caroline Lavelle and Hugh Marsh. I wanted to get their autograph but they did not show up at the back door. Obviously they were tired.

Talking with Loreena McKennitt is something I didn't take into account beforehand. Her accessibility and radiating humanitarianism appealed to me.

I only forgot to tell her that the concert was pretty marvellous. I hope she got it from my eyes Smiler.

I demand Loreena back Smiler.

I have read all of the articles about the performance, and I have to tell, that Hungary is completely in love with Loreena McKennitt.

Here's also the set list:
1. The Gates of Istanbul
2. The Mummers’ Dance
3. Bonny Portmore
4. Marco Polo
5. Dante’s Prayer
6. The Bonny Swans
7. Caravanserai
8. Raglan Road
9. The Mystic’s Dream
10. Santiago (with Zoltán Lantos)
11. The Lady of Shalott
12. The Old Ways
13. Never-Ending Road (Amhran Duit)
Encores: Huron ´Beltane´ Fire Dance
Penelope´s Song

The sound check, which was carried out just before the performance, promised “Beneath A Phrygian Sky”. However, they changed their mind and did not actually do it during the concert for some reason, although it sounded perfect from where we were standing.

dear rainwalker, after this concert I must think that Loreena herself saves your lives, for she will wait you in her next concert, "very soon", you know! Wink

I said, I would not be sad, because we all survived the car crash, and a broken vertebra and a Loreena-performance is not too high price for our lives, but on Monday evening I was laying in the bed, listening to The Old Ways, and I could not stop crying.

Anyway I will be there next time..."very soon".

It's a pleasure to read such enthusiastic words. Even last summer her concert in Brescia was threatened by the rain, but weather conditions were definetely much better than in Budapest: just thunders, lightnings all the time while the concert and a bit of rain only before singing Never-ending Road. This is the limit of open air locations, but a "plus" too!

fribo is really right! We've sat near them, soaking together Smiler - but this night was really unforgettable. The background with original ancient forest, illuminated mysteriously - as an enchanted fairy forest behind Loreena and her musicians. In front of them in the foreground of the stage: as a mirror, multiplying the 'scenery' and that wonderful music - we are highly grateful to this evening, thanks Loreena, and all of you indeed!

Hi fribo

Was the concert held outdoors? Since you all got so wet.

Yes, sometimes her music seems so magical.

I'm glad you did enjoy the show despite the rain. Smiler

By the way... Welcome here on board to you.

Greetings

Anxious 2
