Loreena in Trenton

This was my third time seeing Loreena, second this year, and as usual
she did not disappoint. Whatever magic she works onstage needs to be
bottled and sold. The band doesn't look like they are getting paid to
do it. They look like they actually enjoy themselves and are into what
they are playing. It really comes across not only in the music but
also in the atmosphere. The set list was as other set lists posted
here. I did notice that 'Beneath A Phrygian Sky' was crossed out on
the set list available at the merchandise table and indeed was not played.

There was a nice surprise at the after-show. A very nice woman named
Christine was introducing everyone to everyone else (a small group of
less than 10 or so) and she mentioned "Annie's group, Renaissance".
Ever have one of those moments where you hear something and you are
not quite sure that you heard it? It took me a second or two to
realize that I was standing next to none other than Annie Haslam of
Renaissance! She was a very sweet woman and was kind enough to pose
for a picture with me afterwards.

How cool was this? Two for one? Loreena McKennitt AND Annie Haslam!

Loreena came out by this point and you got the impression right away
that she is exactly the kind of woman that you would expect her to be.
Dear God, she must have been hungry and in a hurry to get going but
she never let you think that and signed autographs, posed for pictures
and generally made everyone's night. As if the concert itself wasn't
enough.

I should also mention that Caroline Lavelle was there waiting for some
cellist friends and she was wonderful also.

Walking out of the alley and gate that served as the 'stage door'
there was another group of about 30-40 people anxiously waiting for
Loreena to come through. Again, Loreena met with those people and
signed for them and was still doing that as we drove away to go home.
I certainly know and believe that Loreena truly appreciates her fans
and doesn't just go through the motions.

For any of you planning on going to the remaining shows, in addition
to the merchandise, another nice little item to get signed would be a
copy of the set list available at the merchandise table.

Ooohhh, I'm jealous! So Annie Haslam was there? Maybe she and Loreena could do a project together. I'd always wanted to meet Annie, too, but I haven't seen her in about 25 years since her last tour with Renaissance.

.
Last night was my 1st time seeing Loreena. I was only slightly fammiliar with her music but had never paid much attention . . . Not too long ago, I stumbled across her performance in Spain on PBS . . . I was busy and didn't stick around for the show. Too bad for me.

Last Tues. evening, some friends called & said they had 2 extra tickets to her show at the Patriots Theater . . . they knew my husband & I would love her as much as they do so off we went.

Oh my . . . I can't believe what I've been missing. I downloaded 3 cd's from iTunes this morning and haven't stopped listening . . . and probably won't all weekend.

I could tell from her remarks during her performance that she's a very special person. I can't wait to see her again . . . and again and again.
