I just got back from Loreena's performance here in Calgary, which was absolutely breathtaking. She is an inspiration that is for sure. The musicians were amazing, and the songs just flowed right into each other, as if time had no meaning.

My favorites of the evening were "The Highway Man", "Dante's Prayer" and "Penelope's Song". I had shivers up and down my spine from each of them.

She has such a natural ability to create a receptive environment. It was intimate, yet professional.

Plus, I had NO idea she played the accordian. Wow, so much talent.

Does anyone know anything about the song Raglan Road. It's the only one I haven't heard before.

Hello, Sora. I didn't know that Ms. McKennitt performed in Calgary recently. Did you get a chance to talk to her? Did you get her autograph? Did you have a photo-op with the Lady of Quinlan Road? Tell me more, Beaver Girl. (That's what I call female Canadian).

Sora,
I was also at the Calgary show ( I had the privledge of seeing her May 19th as well in Victoria , the last stop of the world tour ).Although i enjoyed it very much I did get the impression that Loreena and company were a bit put off , at least in the beginning , by what I thought was a bit of a discourteous crowd ( baby crying right at the start though i guess that cant be helped, people talking etc. I was a bit embarressed actually , and hoped this wouldn`t nix any future plans to perform here again. After the intermission when they came back on stage Loreena made a comment something like how this audience had inspired them all , thought that might be a nice way of saying they determined to perform woderfully in spite of us uncouth Calgarians~!
I still would not have missed it for anything. As for Raglan road , song has been around a long time i believe , Van Morrison has recorded it, but in truth Loreena`s version on " Nights From The ... " puts every other to shame , and should be the only version to ever be played.
