Loreena McKennitt has been forced to cancel the opening concert of her upcoming Mediterranean tour.
She will be unable to participate in the Festival of World Sacred Music in Fez, Morocco; she was due to perform there next Saturday, June 6.
“I’m facing a grave family emergency and being away from home at this time is not an option,” the Stratford, Ontario-based singer said. “It is most difficult to make this unprecedented decision to cancel a concert so close to its date”
”It’s my greatest hope that I will be able to play this prestigious festival — I’ve been aware of it for so many years — in the future.”
I'm sorry to hear Loreena has a serious emergency in her family. I will be thinking of her and hope for a good outcome. Take your time Loreena. Your fans are the best and are patient and understanding.

It's always hard when someone in the family is affected by things.

Ms. McKennitt: I am sorry to hear that something grievous is happening to your family but we, Loreenakateers, understand that you must cancel the concert in Morocco. I know how much you and your fans are excited about it. Nevertheless, I will keep you in my prayers and I will pray for you. May Jesus be your consolation at this great time of need. --LoreenyaThis message has been edited. Last edited by: Loreenya,

This must be a serious emergency. And surely my thoughts are there with/for you, Loreena. And your other family. The family is always more important than anything.
My deepest wishes that it will turn alright at the end.
