Due to fires in Griffith Park, the Loreena McKennitt concert scheduled to be held at The Greek Theatre on Thursday, May 10 has been moved to Gibson Amphitheatre. The concert will begin at 8:30 PM.
Tickets originally issued for The Greek Theatre concert will be honoured at the Gibson Amphitheatre. All Greek Theatre tickets must be exchanged at the Gibson Amphitheatre box office upon entry, and Gibson Amphitheatre management advises you to allow ample time for this process. The Gibson Amphitheatre box office will open at 5.00pm on May 10 to accommodate exchanges.
The Gibson Amphitheatre (formerly Universal Amphitheatre) is located at 100 Universal City Plaza in Universal City, Los Angeles, 91608. It is approximately 7 miles from The Greek Theatre.
I work for a ticket agency here in the L.A. area, and this is what I know so far about the exchanging of the tickets--
The Gibson will be honoring the tickets for the show from the Greek, and will be doing their best to give equivalent seats. It's a bit of a challenge as the two venues are shaped very differently.
Since the Gibson is larger, I believe that anyone who had tickets already for the Greek show is going to benefit with better seats, especially if you were farther back. I think where there's going to be the most shuffling around is if you had first row or pit seats, since there's fewer first row seats at the Gibson--chances are if you were in the far right or far left in the first or second row, you might be moved a row back, but into more central seats.
My tickets were for the first row center at the Greek, so I hope I don't get shuffled too far off.
I am extremely grateful to Loreena, along with the other Admins and staff, who made this possible for us.
As for tickets: I will update tomorrow and let you know how the exchange will go. As for my situation, we would have been 15th row at the Greek Theatre. We'll see what we get at Gibson. When I called the Greek, the woman there informed me that all tickets would be exchanged for "equivalent seats," but that only means, I take it, to be equivalently *priced* seats, and may not mean the equivalent seat location. So we'll see how well this pans out...
Thankfully, living in the Orange County area, I also have tickets to Friday's San Diego show, as well...
I've been waiting nine years for this..and it's almost here!

Awesome job from the Quinaln Road team and the makers of my favorite guitars Gibson "The one and only" making the fans of Los Angeles winners in this situation. I'm sure they have been reading the reviews by the fans who have already seen the show across the country as it headed westward. Total disappointment would have been the result I'm sure. I'm sure they will be rewarded with a great show, although it would be hard to believe it could be better that the one I saw in Boston! Have a great night and a great show fellow fans in L.A.!

Not that I'm going or anything, but I was just curious about how they handled exchanging tickets. I'm assuming the layouts of the two venues aren't totally identical, so it may not be a simple matter of trading row D, seat 10 for the same at the new venue. I'm guessing they have some way of making sure if you've got front row or close seats, that you'll get the same. If anyone goes, let me know how you fared.
