Opening Doors for Others Okay so some may not like the remix but think if you had never heard of Loreena McKennitt and you heard this remix because you like that kind of beat and chorus. Could that not lead some to explore and hear the rest of her music. Surely music is meant for exploring the different ways it can be played. The greatness of a song is the many ways in which a piece can be arranged. How many genre's has The Beatles Yesterday been arranged (Classical, Jazz,Easy Listening to name a few.)If you heard someone singing or humming the tune as a result of the remix wouldn't that be good to hear. Loreena McKennitt's music will last for generatons and no doubt in hundreds of years time become traditional folk songs as was Greensleeves. Hmm I wonder what Henry VIII would have thought of Loreena McKennitt's remix of his song.

Wow, thanx for the sharing... I liked the interview too. It's nice to hear something about my Culture from her. I still miss the Bazaar's that I was grown around.
Very nice thanx...

Yep ! You're right ! I didn't like the remix at all but I've liked very much the interview !

They added that trite minimalist lounge-music beat (is this Delerium or Esthero or worse?) taken right from the "chill out" genre that all the clubbers were into in 2002. Her delivery and lyrics are so compelling and dramatic that they clash with the empty beat. It sounds that they misapplied the chord coloring in the second part of each verse passage, "...life that pulls me far away" and so forth. And the "I'm calling! I'm calling!" in the chorus, Oh My God.
Loreena is way too good for this remix and setting her to such a non-expressive backing track is quite awkward.
On the other hand, I do love The Mummer's Dance remix and the Stolen Child excerpt from the site.

that's exactly what I was thinking! the beat doesn't bother me at all but the background vocals in the chorus - brrr. I liked the interview, though (thank you, vale!).

Thanks for sharing the link and I enjoyed the interview, alas I am very very sorry to say I could not listen to the new Caravanserai all the way through. It was as if Loreena had no other option but to sing at a lounge bar. You have no idea how much it pains me to say that. One of the reasons I love her music is she writes songs more on a primal level and not in the pop or American music style. Those drums are great for rock or pop, as for music that is Celtic and ancient, they just don't fit in. The traditional drums fit perfectly in with the time of which she is singing of, not the bang, bang, clash that collides with her beautiful voice. The background vocals were too heavy. She sings so beautifully, so should the instruments and vocals that back her up. I am so sorry...
Hope you are well, Gina

I want to support this remix, I really love the backing vocals in the chorus! You know, some artists just take a track, put some beat in it and call it "remix"... this remix is quite a different song from the original instead, and I really like it.
I hope it will be released as a single .

Thank you Vale, it's wonderful, this is what I always look for!! I know it's not the original L.M. sound but let me tell you I simply love that version! It's interesting to play with the old and the new in music. By the way, if someone knows where can we buy that version I would be very grateful to know that. Thank you!
