Whenever I listen 'Beneath a Phrygian Sky' I remember of a lyrical and tragical film I have seen, with the title 'Turtles can fly'. The story is about three refugee children on the borders of Iraq / Turkey at the eve of the recent war in Iraq. It is a profoundly moving film that has such a strong scent of humanity... It is about the innocent victims of war (whichever war that may be) and of persecution. It is about love and affection. It is about maturity and solidarity. And it is about what happens when children must alone endure the burdens that would drive even adults to their very limits of existence. When the film ended I just could not move from my seat for 30 whole minutes. I wept again and again, realising how we, the fortunate ones, do not know (and sometimes don't even wish to know) how difficult life can be for the majority of the people on this planet. I wept because I need ed desperately to find a way to help such people. And I wept even more because I know I cannot help all of them on my own. Loreena provided, through her song, a constant reminder of what I have watched in this film: a costant reminder of those less fortunate, along with the ethical obligation to do whatever is within my limited powers to help them. Maybe, if all men on this planet did the same, there would be more happiness and joy.....
I highly recommend this film to everyone here: I know all of you are people sensitive and caring, and, if you want to see something that will make you think really hard, this one is for you...
Amazing!, I thought that I was the only person that had watched that movie. I have yet to find anyone that has seen it. I agree with you whole heartdly, it is a excellent movie and I highly recommend it to all.
